Dear Ravensworth Families,
Yesterday was the first day for student and staff choice around mask wearing. I am sure some of you had worries about how the day would go. Our teachers and staff had conversations about the changes and the importance of continuing to be one caring community. We appreciate the conversations we know you’re having at home about this as well. We had a great day.
Last night we held the first of many parent seminars that we will be offered this spring. Families learned about the Fairfax County Public Schools’ Social Emotional Learning Screener that students participated in this fall/winter. We plan to post the presentation in the Parent Group on Schoology as well as hosting a repeat session once the K-2 data is mailed to parents.

Calendar reminder for March 3rd and 4th
Please remember that students will be dismissed at 1:20 pm on Thursday, March 3rd. Students do not come to school on the Staff Development Day, Friday, March 4th.
Kindergarten Registration for SY 2022-23
We are starting to prepare for the 2022-23 academic year. Children who will be five (5) years old on or before September 30, 2022, are eligible to attend kindergarten next fall. If you have a child who will attend kindergarten at Ravensworth next school year, and you have not already been in contact with our registrar, Teresa Dunbar, please complete this survey and return it to the school via email to: tdunbar1@fcps.edu
Please spread the word to your neighbors who don’t already have a child at Ravensworth. Feel free to pass this form along or have neighbors with rising kindergarteners call the office at 703-426-3600 to be added to our kindergarten mailing list. Registration information will be provided to all families who complete and return this survey. If preferred, you may request a mailed packet of registration forms by calling the office or emailing our registrar.
A child’s record of immunization, physical examination (within 12 months prior to entering kindergarten), proof of residency, and original birth certificate must be submitted when registering the child. For more information regarding kindergarten registration, you may visit the Fairfax County Public Schools’ website at https://www.fcps.edu/registration/general-registration-requirements
The information on this survey will help the school plan for adequate facilities and personnel for the 2022-2023 school year. We thank you in advance for returning the form no later than March 31, 2022.
Kindergarten Orientation will be scheduled soon, and the event will be announced though the Ravens’ Nest and on the school website.

Celebrate National Read Across America Day with us as we Read for Ravensworth in our second school wide read-a-thon! You and your family are invited to join us for a mystery themed read-a-thon filled with exciting and interactive reading fun. Read for Ravensworth is a great way to inspire your child to read and help the PTA raise funds for the community events and programs we all love. EVERY student who participates and logs reading minutes will receive a prize!
