After-School Debate

FDA

Fairfax High School Debate is offering a debate after-school program to Middle School students for the 2nd year in a row! This year, we’re running a joint 8-week debate program for Rocky Run and Katherine Johnson students, through Fremont Debate Academy, focusing on the Middle School Public Debate Format (MSPDP). Students will develop argumentation and research skills, and apply them at regional and state-wide tournaments. This is a great debate and public speaking opportunity for students and will improve their self-confidence & public speaking skills, worldly knowledge & research skills and will have a positive impact on their academic performance.

Fremont Debate Academy (FDA) is an international 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to create a debate & civics program in every school and every district across the world. Over the past ~6 years, our team of over 200+ has impacted ~5000 students, has programs scheduled in 19 states & 8 countries for this fall, and is training teachers from Teach For America (TFA) Ohio, TFA Washington, TFA New York, and Broward County (Florida)! Our volunteer team has aggregated 20,000+ volunteer hours, and FDA is a certifying organization for the Presidential Volunteer  Service Award.
