Lees Corner is a place where we are kind, respectful, and responsible!

Tuesday marked the first day of masks being optional in schools, nearly two years after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This milestone is met with mixed emotions and reactions from everyone in the FCPS community. The one thing that unites us is our commitment to providing a safe, supportive learning environment for all students. Thanks for speaking with your child to determine the best mask plan for when they are on the school bus and/or in the school building.
While masks are optional, we should all still be diligent in monitoring our health each day, staying home when sick, and practicing good hygiene habits like washing hands and covering coughs or sneezes.
Our Health and Safety Guidance Document has been updated to reflect the most recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance, and the work our health team is doing in collaboration with local health experts.
We appreciate your continuous support within our LCES Community! Mental and emotional health is just as important as physical health. Embracing the FCPS caring culture builds a supportive community that promotes the wellbeing of every student.

Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 2:00 A.M. At this time, we “spring forward” one hour! Many people find it helpful to move their clocks ahead 1 hour on Saturday night when they go to bed.
March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. The date 3/21 is significant as it was selected to represent the trisomy of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome. Fun, crazy socks have become symbolic of Down Syndrome awareness. The sock initiative was created to get people talking and asking questions about Down Syndrome. There are many organizations today that create crazy socks to raise money and awareness for Down Syndrome. Crazy socks made by our special education students will be on display in the lobby to raise awareness for Down Syndrome!
Students and Staff are invited to wear your own crazy socks on March 21st.

FCPS parents who are interested in knowing more about their child’s Internet browsing activity on an FCPS device can sign up to receive a weekly Parent Report from Lightspeed, our internet content filtering service. The report provides a list of the top sites the child visited that week.
Additionally, if parents wish to get more detailed information, the weekly Parent Report offers parents the ability to self-sign-up to the free Internet Use Parent Portal. Parents who sign up for the Internet Use Parent Portal can log-in any time to see a little more detail about their child’s internet browsing. The portal also offers the parent added ability to “pause” access to the internet during non-school hours on the FCPS device.
Interested parents can submit a request directly from the Technology Support for Families page for weekly Parent Reports. FCPS will validate the enrolling parent’s email in SIS, and once processed, the parent will receive a weekly report over each weekend from our internet content filtering service, Lightspeed. Feel free to include this information in any newsletters or informational outreach to FCPS parents.
Kiss and Ride volume has greatly increased this year and the line often extends down Hollinger Avenue towards Stringfellow. When you are in line, please be aware of the homes lining the street and take care not to block their driveways.
