COVID Protocol UPDATES

I am sure you have received the communications from Dr. Brabrand regarding the changes in COVID Protocols starting March 1st.  I wanted to highlight the areas most pertinent to you and your children.

    • Masks will be optional for students based on their parent’s choice.  There are no forms to complete.  Please discuss with your child your preference and guide them accordingly
    • All students must continue to wear masks on BUSES.  This is a federal mandate
    • If students attend a field trip and the location requires masks, all students and staff will comply with the mask requirements of that location.
    • Students will NOT be seated in classrooms based on masking preferences.  Students will continue to sit in their assigned seats if applicable or sit in their chosen seats.  No changes in how the classrooms are structured for seating arrangements.
    • All staff WILL continue to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status UNTIL community transmission reaches a moderate or lower level for 7 consecutive days.  When this benchmark is reached, then fully vaccinated staff can be mask optional.
    • Unvaccinated staff will continue to follow required masking mandates at all times
    • Quarantine and isolation protocols will continue for any COVID positive staff and students
    • All visitors will be mask optional and on the honor system.  If you are an unvaccinated visitor, you are asked to wear a mask

Safety and Security

We have FINALLY hired our 7th security assistant and a student monitor to our security team.  We have made some adjustment to the duties assigned and locations of our security staff, providing for Quander and Gunston to have 2-3 security assigned throughout the day.  Our new student monitor and one of our security assistants have a primary responsibility of going in and out of bathrooms to make sure students are not congregating.  All bathrooms are open and accessible, however, we have to keep in mind the overcrowded conditions here.  We only have a few more months and we will be in our new facility fully equipped with new bathrooms 😊.  Our SGA students have created flyers posted in the bathrooms with QR codes for students to report any maintenance issues in the bathrooms to help expedite anything broken, unusable or unclean.  If you have any concerns of any behaviors or any issues of any kind, please reach out to us so that we can clarify and address them for the good of our community.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and take care.

Ms. Millard
