Congratulations to Ms. Rachel Hogan! Ms. Hogan has been named the West Springfield Pyramid Outstanding Secondary New Teacher of the Year We are so fortunate that Ms. Hogan chose to teach at Irving.
Principal’s Town Hall
Please join Ms. Conley on Monday, February 28 at 6:30 pm for information regarding our ESSER Plan, upcoming changes to the mask policy, and to learn what is coming up at Irving Middle School. A Zoom link will be sent out Monday morning for the event.
Student Laptops & Chargers
Please remind your child to charge their student laptop each night. If your child has lost the charger for their laptop, there are two ways to replace it:
- Your child can bring a check to school made out to Irving Middle School for $23 and give it to Mr. Snow in room 150. Mr. Snow will be able to issue a new charger.
- Families can pay for a replacement charger on MySchoolBucks and then your child can visit Mr. Snow in room 150 to pick up a new charger the next school day.
New Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC)
We would like to welcome our new MFLC, Kerstin Alonzo-Brillant to Irving! Ms. Alonzo-Brillant provides free, nonmedical counseling to individuals, groups, and families in person during the school week to enhance social, academic, and emotional skills to support the wellbeing of military students and their families. After School Programs and Clubs
Basketball Club has switched to Intramurals, is open to all and meets Mondays and Thursdays during the 1st block.
Volleyball Club is open to all and meets on Tuesdays during the 2nd block.

Minecraft Club, meets on alternating Thursdays during the 1st block.

Library News
Question for dinner table conversation: What are you reading? How has it changed your thinking? The answer to this question doesn’t have to revolve around some life-altering experience. Learning new facts changes your thinking, as does learning about different cultures, perspectives and opinions.
Readers Unite Book Club continues to meet on Mondays after school. Any students with an interest in reading should drop by the library to express interest and stay after for the first-hour meeting time on Mondays.

Volunteer Opportunities
We need you! We just passed the halfway point in the year, and it is time to start looking toward elections! We need to elect a committee of three to screen candidates and present the best possible slate to the PTA in April - this committee must be elected by the body at our March 8th meeting. If you are interested in serving (it's a really good way to make sure you won't be nominated!), please email us at IrvingMSPTA@gmail.com.
We're planning a family event for Friday, March 25th! We don't currently have a chair for our traditional BINGO night, so we're considering an online trivia night instead. If you are interested in coordinating BINGO for us, please let us know before our executive board meeting on February 22nd, so we can make a final decision about which direction to take!
