SCA Candy Grams a Success!
The Student Council Association would like to thank you for your support of the Candy Grams fundraiser. Our school raised over $600!! The SCA Officers and Representatives voted on how to use the money, and they have decided to give half of the money to Ms. Keaney to buy more books for the Library, and half of the money to Ms. Barber and Mr. Magagnoli to buy more recess equipment.
Digital Citizenship Resources for Parents
The partnership between FCPS and Common Sense Media provides great resources for parents. The links below lead you to our ICES All Parents Schoology site where you can watch videos from the Parenting in the Digital Age playlist, or learn more about specific apps like Tik Tok and Snapchat with Parents’ Ultimate Guides.
Parenting in the Digital Age Playlist
From Common Sense Media, this playlist includes four videos addressing many frequently asked questions.
- What are ways I can set boundaries and support my kids in their tech lives?
- How can we ensure our kids are having high quality experiences?
- I don’t know anything about social media or the apps my kid is on. What do I need to know to keep them safe?
- I’m worried that my kids will use social media inappropriately. And what are these “challenges”?

Your Views and Opinions Are Important to Us!
This spring all Island Creek Elementary School parents/guardians will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism. Understanding that this has been another unusual year, the impacts of COVID-19 will be taken into consideration when reviewing the feedback.
The questionnaire will be collected online between March 7 and March 18. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your opinions matter!
