The Hidden in Plain Sight (HIPS) 

IN-PERSON interactive program for adults only to be educated about the signs of risky behavior in teens and young adults. Fairfax County Police Department Crime Prevention will present Hidden in Plain Sight at Mclean High School on March 1st from  7:00-9:15pm. Langley and Cooper parents are invited to attend. 

The program touches on drug and alcohol use, mental health concerns, eating disorders, risky sexual behaviors and more.  The program begins with a setup of a teenager’s bedroom which includes close to 100 “red flags” that indicate risky behavior.  The event is free, however, attendees must register.

Summer Courses Online

FCPS Online Campus Summer Courses are open for registration and available to eligible middle school students who meet prerequisites and technical requirements.  Students may take one online course for the first time or repeat credit.  Middle school students may not take a mathematics or world language course during the summer as their first-high school level mathematics or world language course.  Courses are rigorous; therefore, students should consult their counselor prior to registering.  Program information is available at Summer Learning.


Registration Calendar/Academic Advising

School Counselors are meeting individually with each student during PE or Block 4 for Academic Advising. Rising 8th graders visit Cooper’s school website and rising 9th graders visit Langley’s school website for more information.

Care in a Bag event

Thank you for your donations of items for the Care in a Bag event to support the Lorton Community Action Center. Students worked hard packing bags, and the employees at LCAC were extremely grateful.
