Upcoming Student Pictures (McNair ES Only)
Class Pictures: Don’t forget to dress to impress on Thursday, February 24, 2022. We will be taking class pictures. Class pictures cost $14 per photo. To pay online, go to www.strawbridge.net. Click Order Pictures and enter the following code: FM382221. An envelope was also sent home with your child last week.
Spring Pictures: All students will have an opportunity to take spring pictures with Strawbridge on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. No money is required before pictures. A proof/portrait package will be sent home from school with information on how to order. (Allow 3-4 weeks)
It’s Time to Order Yearbooks
Yearbooks for the 2021-2022 school year for McNair Elementary (PreK-2 only) are now available to order. The cost is $20. To order online, go to www.strawbridge.net. Click on Order Pictures and Yearbooks and enter the following code: YB111036. Ordering is open until April 15, 2022.
Understanding ESSER III: Impact on Student Success
Last fall, FCPS received $188.6 million in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) funding. These funds have helped us safely reopen our schools and to keep them open. We have also been able to address the impacts of COVID-19 on students. If you are not familiar with ESSER III, here are a few things you should know about how it impacts student success. ESSER III focus areas include:
- Prevention and mitigation strategies to help keep schools open and safe for students and staff.
- Academic intervention services, such as tutoring, after-school programs, and summer learning programs.
- Professional development to ensure our schools are welcoming and culturally responsive to all students and families.
- Multilingual engagement to ensure information is accessible to all families.
- Additional support for students’ social emotional needs.
At McNair Elementary:
We have used ESSER III funding to...
- Purchase resources that will enhance reading, math, and wellness instruction for all grades
- Purchase resources and pay staff for intervention and wellness opportunities for students
- Provide professional learning resources and opportunities to staff
- Plan, provide resources for, and host family engagement events

Did you know we celebrated 100 days in school on Monday, February 14th? This was an exciting day for all. Some teachers magically aged to 100 years and our kindergarten students worked cooperatively to engage in fun activities!

Opportunities for Parents
SIBSHOPS: An Exciting, In-Person and Virtual Workshop for Brothers and Sisters of Children with Special Needs!
The Sibshop workshops are for children in grades 2-6 enrolled in Fairfax County Public Schools who have siblings with special needs to:
- Meet other siblings in a relaxed, virtual setting.
- Celebrate the many contributions made by brothers and sisters of children with special needs.
- Share sibling experiences and receive peer support.
- Play games and have fun!
