Positivity Project: Love
|
.
What is Love?
Love is when you value close relationships with others and being close to people. The character strength of love represents the way we think, feel, and behave towards the people with whom we have close relationships. When one person loves another person, that person: comforts and makes the other feel safe; sacrifices on the other’s behalf; and supports the other during struggles.
Why is it important?
Love is imperative to an individual’s happiness and fulfillment in life. Love allows us to open up to another person and be vulnerable. That openness gives us the ability to learn and grow. Loving another person and sacrificing on his/her behalf produces positive emotions. On a group level, love is vital for the well- being of society. The world is endlessly interconnected. We are all dependent upon each other for survival and happiness. Love produces positive feelings, which help negate loneliness, anxiety, and depression. Without love, we cannot form strong relationships with our families, friends, or communities.

How We Measure Community Transmission
Last week, we shared our plan to safely scale back layered prevention measures using COVID-19 community transmission data and health expert recommendations to inform our decision-making.
Our roll back strategy will be implemented when the Fairfax County community reaches moderate transmission and remains there for seven consecutive days. We measure community transmission as total new cases per 100,000 people over the past seven days. The following chart shows the numbers that determine community transmission and what that means for student mask guidelines and student screening testing.
 |
|
As of the week of February 6 - February 12 (the most recent data), there were 170 new cases per 100,000 people. This is still classified as high transmission. |
In order to move to moderate transmission, cases must be less than 50. The next data report will be Monday, February 21. The reports can be found on the VDH website.
Read the message we shared on February 10 for more about our roll back plan.
