Hello Fairhill Families-

Happy 2/22/22! We are having a Tigeriffic Tie-Dye Tuesday today with our tigers showing their school spirit!

We hope you all enjoyed your long weekend and were able to enjoy some of the nicer weather. Here at school this week we are continuing to make great strides in reading, writing, math, science and our relationships with each other. As a reminder, next week is an altered schedule with Thursday being a 2 Hour Early Release and Friday being a student holiday. SACC will be open.

Don't forget we have another school spirit day on Friday... TWIN DAY! Find your child's multiple and dress alike!

Take care and thank you for all of your continued support of all things Fairhill.

FCPS Survey of Preschool Children

kinder

If you have a preschool-aged child who is eligible for kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year, please use this link https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/forms/it112.pdf to access the form. Return completed forms no later than March 31, 2021.

If your child turns five on or before 09/30/2022 and you do not wish to enroll him/her in kindergarten, please let us know in writing.

The form can be submitted to Amy Spector via email at alspector@fcps.edu or by dropping it off at the school.

Join the PTA!

As we head back to school in person, it is the perfect time to bring our Fairhill community back together.  One of the best ways to feel connected to our teachers, staff and families is to join the PTA.  You can become a member by accessing this link

Opportunities to contribute to the Fairhill Community PTA

Are you interested in working with the PTA but don't know how to begin?  As we head into the spring, the PTA has several fun ways for parents to get involved supporting our school and community.

Website Coordinator

We are in need of a parent who can keep our PTA website up to date.  Experience with WordPress would be helpful.

Fairhill Grounds Clean Up

We are in the planning phase of a Fairhill grounds clean up community event.  We would like to pick up trash, weed the flower beds and possibly plant some new bushes or flowers.  If you have gardening skills to lend or are interested in helping lead the event, we will happily include you in our planning sessions.

Staff Appreciation Week

Staff Appreciation Week is the first week of May and we are in need of volunteers to join our committee.  The committee will come up with ideas for showering the staff with appreciation during the week (for example lunches, surprises in staff mailboxes, chocolate fountain in the staff lounge, etc), create signup genius pages for donations and volunteers (if needed) and help ensure that the staff feel our appreciation.  We are so fortunate to have such an amazing group of people take care of our kids each day.  If you would like to help show them our gratitude, please join this committee.

Family Fun Day

We haven't been able to host our family fun day in 2 years due to covid so we are very excited to bring back the tradition!  In June, the PTA will host a family fun day.  This is an outdoor (weather permitting) carnival type event for the Fairhill community.  We usually have food trucks, bouncy/inflatable games, a staff dunk tank, sports drills with Falls Church High School and more.  The committee will design the event (new ideas are welcome!), book food trucks and take shifts managing the event.  The Family Fun Day is a wonderful community building experience to wrap up the school year. Please consider donating your time and ideas to this celebration!

If any or all of these volunteer opportunities appeal to you, please contact president@fairhillpta.org.

Incourag

Who is ready for a fun Friday night out?  InCourage Martial Arts is running a Nerf Battle night for Fairhill students.  The event includes a balloon target practice, nerf battles, army dodgeball and pizza!

When:  Friday, February 25, 6:30 - 8:30pm

Where:  InCourage (Pan Am Shopping Center)

Cost:  $25 per child

All proceeds will go to the Fairhill PTA.  Click HERE to access the flyer and the registration QR code.
