Weekly Tips for English Language Learners

Helpful weekly tip is to be used at home with your child.  These will help your child with their reading skills at home.  By doing this along with your child you will be modeling best practices.

Show your kids math in their world. Get your kids used to using math strategies by thinking out loud when making calculations. Then, let your children work out some real-life puzzles themselves.

Example:  This could be letting them measure when you bake.   How much more of an ingredient would you need?

Reporting Your Child Absent?

If your child will be out sick for the day it is important that you include ALL stymptoms your child is experiencing.  This information is needed to understand why a student is absent and determine if there are any COVID like symptoms.  On days with high student absences it also helps the health department determine if we have a large amount of communicable diseases within the school.

If reporting an ill child, please identify any of the symptoms below.

Feeling feverish or chills  |  Fever of 100.4 F or higher  | Headache  |  New muscle pain | A new cough  |  A new sore throat | Shortness of breath or breathing difficulties | New loss of taste, smell, or appetite | Congestion or runny nose | Fatigue (more tired than normal or sudden onset) | Abdominal pain  |  Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea

FCPS Cares Program

FCPS Cares

The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees, specifically at Forest Edge.
