Terra Centre Updates 02-18-22

February

Terra Centre Families,

We have had a busy start to our week celebrating Valentine's day and the 100th day of school on Monday, February 14th! Our students enjoyed spreading kindness throughout the building!

Thank you to our 3rd grade families for a wonderful lunch! We are truly appreciative of our families and these monthly meals.

As we begin planning for the 2022-2023 school year, we are conducting a community survey of preschool children who will be five years of age on or before September 30, 2022. If you have a preschooler, please look for the Survey Of Preschool Children form that was sent home in your youngest child's Thursday folder, complete the form and return to school. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our SIA, Ms. Dee Cunningham at  dmcunningham@fcps.edu.

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, February 21st, in honor of Presidents' day.

Please scroll below for current events, updates, and reminders.

Enjoy your weekend!

Rebecca Gidoni, Principal

Teresa Lewis, Assistant Principal

COVID

COVID Protocols for FCPS-Sponsored Activities

Current FCPS COVID mitigation strategies are to be followed for all FCPS-sponsored activities, whether the activity occurs at an FCPS facility or off-site. When FCPS-sponsored activities are held off-site, participants will follow the more rigorous COVID protocols. If the venue requires more strict protocols, all participants will adhere to the venue’s requirements. When activities are held at venues with less stringent COVID mitigation protocols, participants will follow current FCPS practices.

Digital Learning Day

 Digital Learning Day

February 22

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), in cooperation with the Virginia Society for Technology in Education (VSTE) and the Alliance for Excellent Education, has designated Feb. 22, 2022 as annual Digital Learning Day. This event is part of a national campaign designed to celebrate innovative teaching; highlight practices that make learning more personalized and engaging for students; explore how digital learning can provide all students with the opportunities they deserve; and build the skills students need to succeed in college, career, and life.

Understanding ESSER III Funding’s Impact

on Student Success

We encourage you to participate in a public engagement opportunity related to how FCPS is meeting ESSER III requirements for ensuring a safe return to in-person instruction and providing continuity of learning. As a reminder, last fall, FCPS received $188.8 million in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) funding to address the impacts of COVID-19 on students. Grant focus areas include:

  • Prevention and mitigation strategies to help keep schools open and safe for students and staff.
  • Academic intervention services, such as tutoring, after-school programs, and summer learning programs.
  • Equity professional development to ensure our schools are welcoming and culturally responsive to all students and families.
  • Multilingual engagement to ensure information is accessible to all families.
  • Additional support for students’ social-emotional needs.

All of these areas impact student success! Please provide input today via our online feedback form. For more information on the ESSER III grant, please watch this video and visit the FCPS website.
