Random Acts of Kindness Week is February 13-19
Please join us in celebrating RAK Week with us! Below are some ideas for Random Acts of Kindness
Sunday - Call a friend you have not spoken to in a while
Monday - Give a gift card to a locally-owned restaurant or shop to a friend. OR Give the gift of time to friend or neighbor and help them with a chore that needs to get done
Tuesday - Write a letter to someone, put a stamp on it and mail it or take it to the person! The act of taking time to write someone a nice note is a great act of kindness.
Wednesday - Write a nice message on a Post-It note and leave it in a random place for someone else to find. You never know who may need to read a kind message.
Thursday - Find out a friend’s favorite sweet treat and surprise them with it.
Friday - Turn off the phones and spend an hour with family or friends playing a board game, cards, or just hanging out.
Saturday - Pay it Forward! Select a Random Act of Kindness you received throughout the week and pay it forward to someone else!

Student Laptops
We continue to have a number of students arriving at school each morning with uncharged laptops. We do not have the resources to charge all of them during the first classes, especially if students need to use them. We are asking families to assist students with reminders about charging laptops each night in preparation for school the next day. Thank you!
Library News
We are looking forward to visits from English classes soon as students will be choosing their next novels for third-quarter reading assignments.
We will also gladly meet again with our after-school Readers Unite Book Club on Mondays after school. Any students with an interest in reading should drop by the library to express interest and stay after for the first-hour meeting time on Mondays.

News from the PTA
Spirit Night
Our next Spirit Night will be Tuesday, February 22 at Milano’s Family Restaurant. See the attached flier for further details.
Thank you for supporting the Jersey Mike's Fundraiser! We received a check for $7000! Now we need your input! Send us your best ideas on how we can invest that money (and links or dollar figures if you have them) by February 15, and attend our next meeting on March 8th to vote on which project(s) we will fund!
Volunteer Opportunities
We need you! We just passed the halfway point in the year, and it is time to start looking toward elections! We need to elect a committee of three to screen candidates and present the best possible slate to the PTA in April - this committee must be elected by the body at our March 8th meeting. If you are interested in serving (it's a really good way to make sure you won't be nominated!), please email us at IrvingMSPTA@gmail.com.
We're planning a family event for Friday, March 25th! We don't currently have a chair for our traditional BINGO night, so we're considering an online trivia night instead. If you are interested in coordinating BINGO for us, please let us know before our executive board meeting on February 22nd, so we can make a final decision about which direction to take!
Teacher Appreciation
Mark your calendars for March 3rd! That's an early release day and we'll be offering a teacher appreciation event where you can just drop off items or send them in with your child that morning. More to come!
For questions or comments, you can always email us directly IrvingMSPTA@gmail.com.
