100 Days of Learning and Fun At KPES

I am not sure we could have asked for a better combination on 2/14/22; 100 days of learning + Valentines Day + being in person= smiles and giggles all around. As we celebrate Kindness month, we want to thank each of you for 100 days of partnership, caring and support. The Kings Park ES community is strong and we are grateful for the memories and learning that are making together each day.

FCPS School Year 2022-23 Calendar Approved

The 2022-23 school year calendar was approved at the January 27th School Board Meeting. This calendar focuses on instruction, and student and operational needs. The calendar is aligned with neighboring school districts and adds additional key observance days.

Most importantly, this calendar was developed with significant input from the FCPS community. Thank you to everyone who participated in the process through surveys, webinars, and participation in the feedback committee. This effort reflects the best effort of everyone the school calendar touches.

To find out more about next year’s school calendar, visit the FCPS website.

Be Our Partner in Education by Participating in a Review of Books and Materials

Parents, students, and community members have a unique opportunity to help FCPS select important learning resources. These reviews do not happen frequently, so selected resources will be in classrooms for years and are a significant financial investment. Your voice is a direct and important part of the process.

You can review digital resources and leave feedback online. Physical resources for elementary language arts are being reviewed throughout the month at the Willow Oaks Administration Center from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday-Friday. In-person review hours will be extended to 7 p.m. on February 3, 10, 17, and 24

Find out more about basal resource reviews and how to share feedback on our website.

Virtual Meet Me at the Library, March 2nd

Mark your calendar! Our next Virtual Meet Me at the Library event will be Wednesday, March 2nd at 5:30pm

Kings Park is proud to partner with WETA to bring back the amazing Meet Me at the Library program.  This program is a great opportunity for families to log in, listen to stories, play some games, and do a craft to promote literacy skills and explore some fun topics, like Names and Identities, Feelings, and Reading Skills with Super Why.   On March 2nd, families are invited to log in to Zoom at 5:30 PM for an hour-long session focusing on Feelings and Emotions with some amazing Kings Park teachers and staff.  A Zoom link will be provided closer to the event.  Every student that participates will receive a free book from WETA (which will be delivered within a week of the evening session).   We hope to see you online March 2nd at 5:30!

Yearbook Candid Photos

You are invited to upload your child’s photos into the appropriate folder below for possible inclusion in this year’s Kings Park yearbook.  We are looking for pictures from the First Day of School, Book Character Day, and Spirit Days.  Don't forget pictures showing KP pride! Each year is a year to remember and 2022 isn't one to disappoint! A big thank you to our parent volunteers for coordinating this effort!

FCPS Cares

FCPS CARES is an opportunity for staff, parents, students, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others. Every month, a nominated employee from each region and Central Offices will be recognized as an FCPS CARES of the Month recipient. We’ll share their names in Employee News, and they will also have access to a new FCPS CARES banner for their profile photo in Outlook. Watch this video to learn more about FCPS CARES. We also encourage you to acknowledge a staff member who has gone above and beyond!  We love our KPES staff members, let's tell them how we feel!
