Feeling Sick? Stay home.

With the colder weather arriving, we're all spending more time indoors which means closer contact. At this time, COVID cases are increasing as seen here: https://www.fcps.edu/return-school/fcps-confirmed-covid-19-case-reporting

Thank you to families for keeping your child home when they are showing signs of illness: runny nose, cough, fever, vomiting, etc. This has helped keep our COVID numbers low. Frequent hand washing mask wearing, and social distancing are still important and are encouraged by our teachers and staff.

Thank you, School Counselors!

It's National School Counseling week, and we would like to express our deep gratitude to Ms. Skorski and Ms. Nagel, our school counselors. The counseling team is called upon in many situations at Weyanoke. They ensure that our students' social and emotional needs are met, and get to know every student as an individual. They are a critical part of our work here, and we could not do it without them!

Calendar for Next Year Approved

The 2022-23 school year calendar was approved at the January 27 School Board Meeting. This calendar focuses on instruction, and student and operational needs. The calendar is aligned with neighboring school districts and adds additional key observance days.

Most importantly, this calendar was developed with significant input from the FCPS community. Thank you to everyone who participated in the process through surveys, webinars, and participation in the feedback committee. This effort reflects the best effort of everyone the school calendar touches.

Important dates for planning:

First day of School: Monday, August 22

Labor Day Holidays: Friday, Sept 2 & Monday Sept 5

Winter Break: December 19 through January 2. Return on January 3

Career Day at Weyanoke

Friday March 25

We are looking for community & parent volunteers to share what they do with students. Students don’t just learn from their teachers. Community members and leaders can play a vital role in a student’s education.

The PTA is partnering with Weyanoke’s School Counselors to host a Career Day! We are looking for ALL KINDS of occupations, business owners, hourly/salary, part-time/ full-time, any and all industries. We want to give students the best idea of the MANY options available to them after they graduate high school.

Speak about your career and:

  • Give students a chance to see themselves represented in different career paths
  • Participate and let your child see you involved at their school
  • Network with the other parent and community volunteer presenters!
