Please join me in congratulating these students who have excelled doing something they are truly passionate about.

Next, I am proud to share with you that Ms. Sam Ballard, one of our very talented English teachers was voted as our school’s Outstanding Teacher of the year.  She then went on to be named our pyramid winner.  She is now competing for Region Teacher of the Year in the next round.  Please join me in congratulating her.

Ms. Donna Isler, our Speech pathologist who we share with the middle school was voted as the Outstanding Professional for our schools and was named our pyramid winner.  She too will be competing for the Region title for Outstanding Professional.  Please join me in congratulation her as well!

I was fortunate to also sign off on a few recommendations for students to apply to attend Governor’s School in the area of World Languages.  While they are not a guaranteed to be accepted at this point, I am proud that we have students moving forward in the process.  It is another sign of the great work and effort that is being put forth by our students and staff every day.

Over the past few weeks, students have been learning more about the elective opportunities that are available to them for next year.  We are fortunate that we have the number of opportunities available to our students to explore.  I am a firm believer that we need to expose our students to as many of those opportunities as we can so that they can not only discover the things they are interested in, but also learn about the things they may not want to do.  Next year, we will also have a larger group of students who will be able to participate in our leadership class as we are increasing the number of enrolled students from 60 to 90 students.  This increases the number of students in our building on the front line to create impact with our culture.

Lastly, before you know it, we will be running up on Spring Break.  While it seems like there is a great deal of time before then, I am strongly encouraging each of you to ensure you are having those conversations with your children about where they are in their classes.  It is not enough to look at the grades in ParentVue.  Please ask questions and also talk to them about how they are doing in general.  Also, give them a hug, and then one more from me.  Thank you once again for allowing me to work with your students.  Have a safe and warm rest of the weekend.  Until we chat again, please take care.  #OneStallion

South County’s Stallion Spirit Store has a variety or ways you can purchase items for the school year. We have a website where you can browse our spirit wear and find a PDF Order Form for download; invoicing for payment on MySchoolBucks will be sent after your order is fulfilled.  You can also find our kiosk in the cafeteria during lunches on odd days (5th period) as well as in the gym lobby by way of a retail vending machine!

Thank you in advance for supporting the Entrepreneurship & Marketing program as well as the Work and Transition program here at South County. The students from these programs typically work the Spirit Kiosk at lunches to build customer service skills as well as count inventory, review financial records and create promotional plans.
