Good afternoon Roadrunner families,
It is an honor to announce that effective February 1, 2022, I became the new principal of Lorton Station Elementary School. I want you to know that I am excited and committed to serving our students, families, and community. I look forward to meeting as many parents as possible as we work closely together over the years to ensure your child’s success and academic growth at Lorton Station. I come to you from Alice West Fleet Elementary School where I served as the principal for three years. Prior to my principalship at Fleet, I served as Assistant Principal of Tuckahoe Elementary and Wakefield High School. I have been an active member of the Fairfax community and have two children who attend school in Fairfax County. I appreciate the rich traditions and history of Lorton Station and I am committed to working collaboratively with parents, students, and staff toward a path of academic excellence and equity.
I am working closely with our parent liaison to setup a time in the coming weeks for a formal meet and greet with the community in the school cafeteria. Please be on the look out for additional details and information regarding the meeting time and date. This will be a time for the community to provide your voice in shaping the future of Lorton Station.
I look forward to working alongside you to continue the strong traditions and programs we offer and to make room for exciting new opportunities for the students at Lorton Station.
Warmest Regards
Francis Legagneur
Principal
Dear Families,
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is happy to partner with the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) to provide a 5-11 vaccination clinic at Lorton Station on February 15th at 9:30 AM (with the clinic for the second vaccine happening March 8th). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), vaccination helps reduce the severity of illness and remains the best tool for ending the pandemic and is one of our layered prevention strategies.
Our school was selected to host one of these clinics based on lower-than-average vaccination rates in the school community as indicated by FCHD data. The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and FCHD have a partnership with Ashbritt/IEM, a medical contractor providing COVID-19 services across the country. Ashbritt/IEM is an experienced provider of approved COVID-19 vaccinations for children and adults. Pediatric nurses and nurse practitioners will administer pediatric specific doses and monitor children post-vaccination.
The two vaccination clinics will be held in school during the school day and conducted within three weeks of each other to include the first and second doses. Vaccinations will be provided only to students enrolled at this school who have provided parental/legal guardian consent.
If you’d like to have your child vaccinated at this school clinic, (during the school day), please fill out the parent/legal guardian consent and health history form and return to the main office by February 14th. If you would like a paper copy of the form, please contact Adriana Flores at aflores2@fcps.edu
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our schools open and safe places to learn.
Sincerely,
Francis Legagneur
Principal
