Due to the increase in counterfeit pills and the overdose rate among our youth, the DEA started the One Pill Can Kill initiative. Here is the link that provides information about the initiative and pictures of counterfeit pills. Social media plays a role in the distribution of pills. Below are the social media accounts used and the emojis used between the dealer an “customer.”

Freshman Parents Virtual Forum
Please join the Freshman Parents Forum, Friday, February 11, 9:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m. to hear The Study Pro's Debbie Rosen and Lindsey Thoms speak about executive functions skills and how you can be a supportive partner with your student.
How to be your Child’s Executive Function Cheerleader
One of the great joys for a parent is to cheer our children on as they build new skills. When it comes to school, we praise the obvious skills such as doing well on a test or getting an A on a paper, but often miss the less obvious — but equally important — ones, such as overcoming challenges to get started on an assignment or adequately planning to finish a longer-term assignment on time. In this intriguing presentation by The StudyPro, they will share:
- What Executive Functions (EF) skills are and why they matter
- How to recognize and improve “missing skills” behind common school challenges
- How to partner with your student to help build their EF skills
Improving Executive Function skills will help with focus, flexibility, and pushing through frustration. And that’s definitely something to cheer about.
We will meet virtually. A link to the meeting will be provided next week and posted on the PTSA Class of 2025 website.
28 Days of Equity Awareness
The Langley PTSA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee is launching a second year of the 28 Days of Equity Awareness project. Our goal is to begin a conversation based on our learning about perspectives from an intersection of marginalized voices. We invite participants to check out our themed list of short readings, podcasts, and videos, complete as many as possible, and then join us in our planned discussion groups and speakers. To find our 28 Days list and RSVP for our discussion groups and virtual events, please visit our PTSA website: https://www.ptsalangley.org/
DIVERSEartLANGLEY
Langley students are invited to get creative for an upcoming art exhibit: DIVERSEartLANGLEY, sponsored by the Langley PTSA committee on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
You don’t have to be taking an art class to enter: we’re accepting art submissions from anyone with an idea to express. Submissions can be in any of the seven art forms: painting/drawing, sculpture, literature (Short stories) music, dance, theater/cinema, architecture, and should answer any (or all) of these questions:
Diversity: What does diversity look like in my community?
Equity: What does equity mean to me?
Inclusion: Are you able to be your authentic self and still be safe and accepted? (Do you feel like you have to code switch?)
Exhibit will be held Thursday, March 24, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to top three submissions.
To see details, please go to the PTSA website: https://www.ptsalangley.org/
