“Go Paperless” in ParentVUE

You can opt to “Go Paperless” in ParentVUE and receive only online report cards. This will not impact any other mailings from FCPS other than the report cards for secondary students and progress reports for elementary students. The “Go Paperless” option will apply to all your associated students, no matter what school level!

To take advantage of the paperless options, parents and/or guardians* will need to log into ParentVUE, then go to “My Account” and select "Go Paperless."

*All parents who live with the student and share the same address must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option to prevent mailing of the printed report cards.

Rising 7th Grade Immunization Requirement

The Code of Virginia requires all students to be immunized against certain communicable diseases prior to entrance into Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).

Effective July 1, 2021 all students entering 7th grade will be required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations prior to the beginning of school: Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap), and Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY).

Seventh grade students cannot begin school in August without proper Tdap and Meningococcal documentation.

Please provide one of the following documents to Hayfield Elementary School as soon as possible:

  • An updated immunization record showing that the student has received the missing immunization(s).
  • A note on a healthcare provider’s letterhead stating the date the vaccine(s) was given.
  • A healthcare provider’s written statement of a permanent or temporary medical exemption.
  • A notarized Religious Exemption Form which is available online at: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/support/health_medical/certificate_religious_exemption.pdf

Immunizations are available from your student's healthcare provider or the Fairfax County Health Department. The Health Department clinic locations and hours are available online at: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/health/immunization/school or by calling 703-246-2411.

Seventh grade students will not be allowed to begin school in August 2022 without submitting proper documentation.

2022-23 Kindergarten and New Student Registrations

Children residing in our boundaries who will turn 5 years old on or before September 30, 2022, as well as students in grades 1-6 transferring from Private/Home Schools or moving into our boundaries prior to the start of the new school year must visit our website and select an appointment to register. Appointments are open now and continue throughout the summer.

Please spread the word to neighbors to whom this may pertain. While you are guaranteed enrollment (as long as you physically reside in our boundaries and meet the age requirements) we prefer you register sooner rather than later to ensure we are adequately staffed. You must have all of the documents/forms to be enrolled. If your child’s most recent health physical was completed prior to August 22, 2021, you will need to provide a more current physical once completed.

All information pertaining to registration, including eligibility and forms is outlined on our student registration page on our HES website where you can make an appointment and find the forms to register.

Highlights include:

  • Mental Health of Military-Connected Kids and Teens
  • Storms in Any Season- What parents need to know about
  • Deployments, Injuries, Separations, and Loss
  • Known and little-known resources for military families to get you through storms and everyday life

Free National Parks Pass for Military-Connected Families

National Parks Passes: Did you know military families get free admission to all National Parks? These passes usually cost over $100, but military families can enter for free (see below). You can also camp overnight at National Parks, (usually with a reservation in advance). Consider camping at National Parks to add to your adventure and save money during a cross-country PCS move.

Active military members and their families can obtain a free annual park pass. There are more than 2,000 national parks all over our country, so this is definitely something you should look into! The military member will be the pass holder, but their family (up to 3 adults) will be able to get in for free as well. Children under 15 are always free. Click here to find out where you can get your free pass.

Northern Virginia District PTA Military Families Committee Meeting

The Northern Virginia District PTA Military Families Committee meeting will be held on February 7 at 8 pm – online. Please register for the meeting. The committee will discuss the upcoming PCS season, Month of the Military Child plans, reviewing the resource progress, and welcoming new members to the committee.
