SERVICE OPPORTUNITY
The SCA will be hosting Care in a Bag, a community service event on February 17th from 9:30 to 10:20. We will be packing care packages for the Lorton Community Center to distribute to families in need. We are looking for water bottles and snacks to include in the care packages. If you would like to participate, please sign up to drop off some items at the school by February 15th for students to pack: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f44aca62dabfac25-care
These items can be dropped off in the front office Monday – Friday or at Kiss and Ride Tuesday and Friday with Mr. Taylor. Please email Lily Millhouse (LRMillhouse@fcps.edu) with any questions. Thank you!
Volunteer Opportunity
The hearing and vision screening will be given to 8th grade students who were not physically present in an FCPS school during their 7th grade year. We are in need of volunteers to assist with administering the screenings through our PE classes on Tuesday February 8th and Wednesday February 9th. Please view the volunteer schedule.
Report Cards
Second quarter grades are available to view in Student Vue and Parent Vue. All students will receive a printed copy of their report card to bring home on Friday, February 4.
Summer Courses Online
FCPS Online Campus Summer Courses are open for registration and available to eligible middle school students who meet prerequisites and technical requirements. Students may take one online course for the first time or repeat credit. Middle school students may not take a mathematics or world language course during the summer as their first-high school level mathematics or world language course. Courses are rigorous; therefore, students should consult their counselor prior to registering. Program information is available at Summer Learning.
Registration Calendar/Academic Advising
It's time to start planning and preparing for next year. This is an important time for students as they plan and choose classes that will affect the 2022-23 school year.
Please review the information and remember to mark important dates on your calendar. We encourage you to start to have conversations about next year with your child. Counselors will be meeting individually with each student during Academic Advising. Also, visit our school website as we update information on a regular basis.
Feel free to reach out to us with any questions! We look forward to working with you and your child.

AAP Level IV Parent Referrals for Cooper MS Due February 8, 2022
Parents/guardians of students in Grade 7 who would like their student to be considered for full-time advanced academic programs (level IV AAP services) for 2022-2023 may submit the AAP Level IV Referral Form to their Cooper school counselor no later than February 8, 2022.
Forms for AAP Level IV referrals are available on the AAP Forms Page. No late referrals for AAP Level IV services can be accepted.
Submitting a referral form for AAP Level IV will initiate a process that begins at Cooper and is then completed at the central office level. Cooper will put together a portfolio that includes multiple data which are considered holistically. At the central office level, a committee of professionals from various schools review materials to determine eligibility for level IV placement. Eligibility decisions are communicated by early April.
