My name is Elizabeth Shoemaker and I am so excited to be a part of the Eagle View Elementary Family! I love being able to work with children, families, and the community! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if you would just like to introduce yourself!

My name is Joci Patterson and I am happy to be a part of the Eagle View team! I am passionate about children and education, and I love connecting with families. Interesting fact about me: I’m from Brazil and speak Portuguese! I look forward to meeting you!

What is a Family Liaison?
- Facilitates communications and provides the school with information and resources for their families
- Encourages family engagement in children’s education and connects families to what their children are learning
- Builds relationships with and among families, staff members, and community members
- Promotes understanding of families’ cultural diversity
- Provides information about and connects families to human services
- Ensures families feel welcomed, trusted, and valued by the school
What can a Family Liaison do for you?
- Participates in delivering school/community outreach programs: one-on-one consultations, small meetings, presentations, and workshops for families and staff members
- Serves as home/school contact for teachers and administrators to ensure information is communicated in a timely fashion
- Communicate and share community resources to families
- Help coordinate interpreters for meetings and conferences
- Provide information about schools in the United States
- Offer leadership opportunities for families
- And much, much more!
We are happy to announce the Eagle View Family Liaison Newsletter. The purpose of this newsletter is to inform you about community resources, volunteer opportunities, school engagement, students learning tips, and share other valuable information! We also want to use this tool to interact with you and know more about thoughts and preferences!
This weekly newsletter will be released every Tuesday and edited by your Family Liaisons Joci Patterson and Elizabeth Shoemaker.

Family-School Engagement: Receive information on Parent-Coffee meetings, Eagle View events, volunteer/engagement opportunities at EV and other information on how to get involved at Eagle View.

Student Learning Tips: Read about tips and activities to motivate your child’s learning progress and be an active participant in their educational journey!

Community Resources: Read about resources and services provided around the Fairfax community, including: medical and mental health resources, ESL classes, food pantries, volunteering, and more!

Parent Resource Center (PCR): Receive information on the services provided by FCPS Parent Resource Center. PCR provides information and resources that supports all students, including those with learning challenges, special needs, and disabilities. PCR offers free webinars, free consultations, tutor lists, and others!

Engagement: We want to interact with you and learn about your preferences and thoughts! We’ll send questionnaires occasionally to interact and explore the best ways to serve you!
