Greetings Major Families,

The second semester is upon us and we are excited about all that comes with the second half of the school year.  This month, the celebrations are plenty - Black History Month, Valentine’s Day, National Career and Technical Education Month, Presidents’ Day, National Counseling Week (2/7-2/11), and School Bus Driver Appreciation Day (2/11).  We invite you to join us in recognizing these events this month and letting our counselors and bus drivers know how much we appreciate all they do every day for our Majors.  We are also excited to recognize students who have obtained Honor Roll this quarter.  This virtual ceremony will take place prior to the PTSA/Roundtable meeting on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 6:00-6:30.  Those students will receive their certificates in Major Time and the link to the ceremony will be emailed to families that morning.

The midyear SR&R review with students will also happen this month with a focus on mental wellness, attendance, harassment and the use of electronic delivery systems such as vapes and E-cigarettes.  We ask that you also revisit the SR&R with your children to discuss their rights and responsibilities as students.

This week some of our student leaders joined me in a very productive meeting with our Title IX Coordinator, Ms. Colby Bruno.  She was able to help us unpack the differences between sexual harassment and misconduct and how they might continue to use their voices to advocate.  We will continue this conversation and are in the process of sharing those notes with all MVHS students.  Additionally, we will be highlighting this topic in a Major Time lesson on March 3, 2022 for all students.  Ms. Bruno will also join families at our next MVHS Parent Roundtable Discussion which has been rescheduled to Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 6:30 - 8:00 to avoid conflicts with other school events.  The meeting will follow the PTSA’s general business.  Please use this link to submit questions you might have here.  You can join by using this link.  I look forward to seeing you all at that time.

With Major Pride,

Principal Rogers
