Dear Fairfax Families,
Looks like we are going to have another cold and snowy weekend! Although the wintry weather means the FHS academy performance of Newsies for tonight has been canceled you can still catch the show this weekend on Saturday at 7:30 PM and on Sunday at 2:30 PM. Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right!
Good news, beginning tomorrow FCPS will open events to general admittance for spectators. Admittance will no longer be limited to family members only. In accordance with state law, our regulation requiring universal masking remains in place until further notice. We look forward to having our stands full again with fans supporting and cheering on our LIONS! Good luck to our Swim team, JV Wrestlers, Indoor Track Athletes, and our Theatre One Act team who will be competing and performing tomorrow! Check the athletic website for changes made to events because of the weather.
Beginning Tuesday, February 1, 2022, I’m happy to report we will once again allow students to meet with their teachers for extra support and to make up work during Lion Time. In other good news, this past week we opened the FHS Student Learning Lounge. Located in the Commons (near the Auditorium) and open every Wednesday and Thursday, the Learning Lounge is an afterschool space for students to study, work, and collaborate! It is a supervised space for students to complete assignments and practice their skills in a relaxed setting. We have teachers and peer tutors available to help. Please encourage your child to take advantage of opportunities for extra support!
