Virtual Learning: Thursday, January 20, 2022
Fairfax County Public Schools has called for a virtual learning day tomorrow, Thursday, 1/20/22, due to inclement weather. This day will include BOTH a two-hour delay as well as the two-hour early release that was previously planned. The day will begin at 10:30 am and end at 1:15 p.m. Students should log on to Schoology and enter their classroom Zoom session beginning at 10:30 am. If you need support with Schoology, you can find resources at this link.
Students in our Enhanced Autism, Preschool or PAC programs, your child’s teacher will email you with information and schedules for your child’s day.
The schedule for Thursday, 1/20/22 will be as follows for our K-6 students:
 Attendance: Teachers will take attendance in SIS as they would on an in-person day. Students who are unable to connect will be marked with an excused absence and will be given an opportunity to make up work.
COVID Cases
I know that the recent increases in COVID cases across Fairfax County have many of our staff and families concerned. As a school, we will do our part to keep students and staff safe by continuing to practice our mitigation strategies. Families can support these efforts by keeping children home if they have any sign of illness. If someone in your home has COVID-like symptoms, please follow the CDC guidelines, and if your child tests positive for COVID, please let us know right away by calling our front office at 703 633-7500 or emailing Natalie Lorenzi at nllorenzi@fcps.edu.
Science Fair
The Cub Run PTA invites your child to participate in the 6th annual Science Fair to be held March 10th from 6:00-7:30pm. This beloved event has been extremely popular with students and adults alike. If your child would like to submit a project, please click HERE for the participation form and submit it by February 9th. Building Healthy Sleep Habits
As we enter the new year, this is a great time to reset and create healthy habits. One way is to ensure a good night's sleep! Having restful sleep can improve physical health and memory, increase mood, and keep you awake and active during the day. Here are some tips for better sleep:
- Stick to a sleep schedule
- Create a restful environment with limited distractions
- Exercise daily
- Turn off electronics at least 1 hour before bedtime

Arrival and Dismissal Safety Reminder
Please remember to not drop off or pick up your child by parking or waiting in your car in the cul-de-sac behind the playground. Instead, please utilize our Kiss-and-Ride system or park your car legally and walk to Door 4 for pick-up. Thank you!
