Inclement Weather Announcement - January 19

b

Annandale Staff, Students and Community:

As FCPS communicated, tomorrow, January 20, will be an inclement weather virtual synchronous learning day. The schedule includes both a two-hour delay and the planned two-hour early release. Here is a link to the FCPS bell schedule for tomorrow. As a reminder, there is no W4 on early release days but we will have PRIDE Time. Stay tuned for information about after school sports practices.

Students should access their classes via Zoom in their Schoology Courses. Teachers will be taking attendance in SIS as they would on an in-person day. Students who are unable to connect will be marked absent and given an opportunity to make up work.

Last week, our focus in W4 was on preparing for the possibility of a virtual instruction day and ensuring Zoom worked properly. Our tech team has been working to address any issues that were identified and reported during the Zoom test. If students experience technical difficulties, they can access  support on the FCPS Tech Support for Families Page.

We will be making an announcement at the end of the day (2:50pm) to ensure all students and staff are prepared and will remind students to bring their computers, chargers, and any other instructional materials home with them.

As always, please reach out with questions.

Navigating the COVID Surge

Keeping Up With COVID: A lot of new and updated information is available for schools and families due to the current COVID-19 surge and recent changes to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance. Earlier this week, FCPS shared how the new CDC recommendations for quarantine and isolation periods would affect students and staff. Check out the Health and Safety Guidance Document on the FCPS website for the most up-to-date information.

FCPS Policy on Masks: As we return to school after the holiday weekend, FCPS will continue universal masking for all students and staff. FCPS continues to require universal mask wearing in alignment with CDC guidance. Our layered prevention strategies have proven effective in keeping transmission rates low in our schools. We know our students are best served by in-person instruction. Adhering to our layered prevention strategies, especially universal masking, keeps our schools open and safe places for students to learn. FCPS is reviewing Governor Youngkin’s executive order issued this weekend. As we have throughout the pandemic, FCPS will continue to share any updated information with you around FCPS COVID-19 practices and protocols as needed. You can review current health and safety guidelines on our website.

Direct Line at Annandale HS for COVID Communication: Annandale High School will now have a direct phone line and email for any COVID-related matters. If your student either has COVID or was in close contact with someone with COVID, or you have any questions or concerns about COVID-related policies and procedures, please email AHS COVID at ahscovid@fcps.edu or call 703-642-4363. Please leave a message if no one picks up and our COVID case manager, Nathan Park, will get back to you.
