Providing students and parents with important updates and reports of events and happenings in the middle school.

ACADEMIC ADVISING BEGINS!

Here is the timeline for current 7th and 8th grade students:

For 7th grade students:

  • January 18 through February 3rd:  Students and parents can access Middle School Elective Explorer and Course Selection Sheet through Schoology to work with students to select courses.
  • February 2 and 3:  Middle School counselors will present course information to period classes through Health and PE.  Students will enter their requested 8th grade courses in SIS.
  • February 4th through February 18th:  Middle School counselors will meet individually with students through English classes to academically advise and review course selections.

For 8th grade students:

  • January 11th:  Advisory teachers showed 8th grade students a High School Presentation on Academic Advising. Students learned about Graduation Requirements and the registration process.
  • Beginning January 11th: Parents and students can review course selections from the 9th grade Course Selection Sheet.  Students can enter their course selections for 9th grade in SIS.
  • Wednesday, January 26th and Thursday, January 27th:  8th grade students only (Rising 9th) can attend an In Person Elective Fair to learn more about specific courses and to meet the teachers.  A sign up form is posted on the Grade 8 Schoology Group stream.  Registration opened on Wednesday, January 19th.  Students can attend both days.  Late buses are available.   • February 1st through February 16th :  Middle School Counselors will meet individually with students through English classes to academically advise and review course selections. 

You can review Middle School Academic Planning by visiting the Robinson website at: https://robinsonss.fcps.edu/student-services/middle-school/middle-school-academic-planning.  There you will find the course selection sheets for 8th and 9th grade.  If you click on the various elective classes in blue you and your child can watch individual elective videos. 


Rising 9th In-Person Electives Fair 1/26 & 1/27

Rising 9th grade students are invited to attend the Electives Fair after school on Wed., 1/26 and Thurs.,1/27! Students may sign-up for one or both days to learn more about specific courses and to meet the teachers. Once registered, students will receive an email record of their selections, which will include meeting locations.

3rd Quarter Club List & Descriptions (Updated 1/21/22)

RMS After School Activity Permission Form | Required for all students

Activity Period: 3:00-4:30pm

Late bus service days: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays; departing 4:50pm. (RSLR 5 & 11 depart at 5:00pm) Parent pick-up is at entrance #1.

Updates are posted on the Schoology grade level streams and club list with descriptions, quarter schedule, and registration forms for select programs in the MS Club & Activity folder located in the Resource tab.

Club & Activity Sign-up Procedure

For clubs and activities meeting on late bus days, students sign-up using the After School Sign-up form posted at 9:30am on their grade level Schoology Group page for activities meeting that day. If a program fills, students will need to select from the remaining options. Students staying for Tuesday and/or Friday activities report directly to the meeting location and there is no need to sign-up. 

Select programs require a separate registration due to design and time commitment, therefore, students do not need to sign-up for each meeting.

Mock Trial Club 

Returning members are welcome to re-register to take on the challenge of a new case. New members are always welcome!

A new series is being offered and registration is required due to space limitations and program design. Program meets on Wednesdays, 2/2 - 3/30.

Football Conditioning Program New Start Date

UPDATE: New start date of Monday, 1/31/22. Join the Schoology Group for updates from Coach ArenaAccess code: VH2N-VN2G-MVGD7

The Middle School Weight Lifting Program is for 7th and 8th grade students interested in being a part of the Robinson Football program. Weight lifting in adolescents promotes an overall healthy lifestyle. Individuals will learn the proper use of weight lifting equipment and how to perform exercises safely. Those in the program will receive direct coaching from Robinson football coaches.

Required Form: Parental Authorization & Acknowledgment of Risk 

The parent permission form is also available for pickup in the SS7 and SS8 offices and is posted in the Schoology grade level group Resources tab. Submission of this form to the SS7 or SS8 office is required before participation. This program will be offered through mid-May and students may join any week.

The Student Services staff is here to help you in any way we can.  Please note that students cannot leave class or lunch to see their counselor without an appointment and a pass.  If they need assistance, we encourage them to email our Student Services staff to request an appointment.  If there is an emergency, their teacher will call the subschool office for assistance.
