Principal's Corner
Dear Fort Hunt Families,
We hope you are enjoying your long weekend and are staying safe.
As per Dr. Brabrand's email Sunday to the school community, we want to let you know that FCPS and Fort Hunt ES will continue universal masking for all students and staff.
FCPS continues to require universal mask wearing in alignment with CDC guidance. Our layered prevention strategies have proven effective in keeping transmission rates low in our schools. We know our students are best served by in-person instruction. Adhering to our layered prevention strategies, especially universal masking, keeps our schools open and safe places for students to learn.
FCPS is reviewing Governor Youngkin’s executive order issued this weekend. As we have throughout the pandemic, we will continue to share any updated information with you around FCPS COVID-19 practices and protocols as needed. You can review current health and safety guidelines on the FCPS website.
Your Proud Principals, Tim Slayter and Katie Pluntke

Navigating the January 2022 COVID Surge
Dr. Brabrand shared our plan to navigate the current COVID surge and our commitment to provide safe in-person learning for our students. We are all working together to put our students first. Thank you to every FCPS employee and all our families for your continued support.
Details and updates about our plan to provide continuity of instruction during the COVID surge can be found on the FCPS website.

FCPS Superintendent Search Needs Community Input
FCPS is conducting a nationwide search for a new superintendent to lead the school district when Superintendent Brabrand's contract expires at the end of the 2021-22 school year. Your input is an important part of the search process! Please attend a Superintendent Search Virtual Town Hall to provide feedback on the characteristics and personality traits you would like to see in the new superintendent.
The next town hall will be hosted on Zoom on January 18 from 6p-7p. Visit FCPS’ Superintendent Search webpage to register.
Also, please take the Superintendent Search Survey if you haven’t already. FCPS parents/guardians, staff, and high school students were sent their own survey link via an email from “FCPS and GR Recruiting.” Community members can access the survey link on our website.
