Dear GBE Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Break and enjoyed the snow! I know my daughters loved building a snowman to start 2022!. We are excited to reconnect with our students when they return to the building.
The news of the omicron variant with updated CDC announcements during the Winter Break has certainly created additional questions as we resume in-person learning at GBE. I will be presenting the most updated information from FCPS during our scheduled Community Town Hall on Friday, January 14th. I will email the Zoom details in an E-Notify on Thursday, January 13th. I will also email a recording of the Town Hall for families unable to login. It is understandable you may have questions or concerns before our scheduled Community Town Hall. We are thrilled to welcome Christine MacWilliams to our GBE family as our new Acting Assistant Principal for the remainder of this school year! As we continue to face operational challenges during the pandemic, Mrs. MacWilliams will be a tremendous support at GBE. Mrs. MacWilliams brings a wealth of experiences and leadership to our team. She has served as a classroom teacher in multiple elementary and middle schools, a Reading Specialist in elementary schools, an Instructional Coach, and an Educational Specialist for Region 1 & 5. She has worked with the Greenbriar East staff over the last three years to support our grade level teams. Her extensive knowledge and skills will continue to strengthen our school community. She is very excited to meet our students! Her first official day at Greenbriar East will be on Tuesday, January 18th.
In addition to Mrs. MacWilliams, we have several new staff members joining our amazing team! I’ve included an announcement of our new staff below. As we near two years of operating school during a pandemic, I am sure we will continue to face new hurdles ahead. Please feel free to contact the front office team as we move through another calendar year together. Mrs. Kiser can support our community as our School Public Health/COVID Case Manager. Mrs. Albani, our Family Liaison, is also available as she supports the partnership between school and families. We serve a terrific school community and we appreciate you!
