Hello McNair Upper Families,
Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a wonderful and relaxing winter vacation and that our Mustangs are ready to return to school tomorrow.
As we prepare for their return to school, I want to ensure that each and every Mustang returns healthy and ready to learn.
If your child does not feel well and is exhibiting COVID-like symptoms, we kindly ask that you keep them home and seek the advice from a medical professional before they return to school. They can return to school once they have been tested and/or feel better. If students do not test positive for COVID, but are feeling unwell, they must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school. We kindly ask that you do not give them any medication and send them to school because they still could be symptomatic and the medication will wear off over time.
If your child will not be at school tomorrow, please report their absence to the main office by 8:30 AM.
- Attendance Telephone Number: (571) 982- 4747
- Attendance Email Address: McNairUpperElem.Attendance@fcps.edu
I sincerely appreciate the support of our entire school community as we return our Mustangs to school safely!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Goddin
Proud Principal
Below are some ways we will continue to keep our students and staff safe at McNair Upper ES when they return to school tomorrow.
- Follow all layered prevention strategies to include correct and consistent use of well-fitted masks at all times (except when eating), washing hands frequently, and staying physically distant as much as possible in classrooms, cafeteria, hallways and other areas.
- CDC mask guidance has not changed. HERE is the Oct. 25, 2021 CDC guidance on the type of recommended/not recommended face masks. Masks should have multiple layers and be well fitted to one’s face.
- Have hand sanitizer readily available throughout our school building; including in all classrooms and office spaces.
- Weather permitted, we will continue to use outdoor spaces as much as possible for eating, learning, and/or other extracurricular activities.
- Review the Daily Health Screening Questionnaire (see below) with your child before they return to school tomorrow.
You may wish to voluntarily share your child’s COVID-19 vaccination information with us. However, we do not require your child’s vaccination information and no school employee will ask for your child’s vaccination status. The only exception is student-athletes, who are required to share their vaccination status to participate in their sport or activity.
If you would like to provide us with your child’s vaccination status, please bring your child’s COVID-19 vaccination card or a photocopy of the card to the main office and submit it to Ms. Julie Wilson, Student Information Assistant. COVID-19 vaccination documentation contains Protected Health Information and should not be emailed.
As always, you are welcome to contact the main office if you have any questions.
