Stenwood Hive Happenings

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

We hope you all have a relaxing winter break.  As a reminder, winter break will be held December 20-31. Classes resume on Monday, January 3, 2022. See the complete 2021-22 school year calendar

Most of our staff is on leave during winter break.  Our office will be open by appointment only on December 20-22 and will be closed for the remainder of the winter break.  Our staff will be taking some much needed time to be with their families and friends and get some rest, and we hope you and your family have the opportunity to do the same.  If you need something over the break, feel free to send an email/call the office and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Lastly, don’t forget to pick up your Square 1 Art orders TODAY, Friday, Dec 17th from 4 - 5:30 pm from Stenwood Kiss & Ride. If you ordered from Square1 Art for school delivery, your child will not be bringing home the order in their backpack (we want to make sure all the orders stay safe!). Can't make it today? Pick Up Tuesday, Dec. 21st from 9-11 am from Stenwood Kiss & Ride.  All items not picked up in December will be held at the school until January.

Drive Thru Covid Testing - Six FCPS Sites

***CLOSED FOR WINTER BREAK***

Drive thru

Starting this week, students may obtain COVID-19 diagnostic testing at six drive-through sites in Fairfax County. Diagnostic testing is provided for anyone who has symptoms or is identified as a close contact of someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

COVID-19 testing helps us reduce the virus’ spread and keep our schools safe places for all students to learn. I encourage you to utilize our new diagnostic testing services as needed.

Appointments are not required for diagnostic testing but families must register in the secure online portal. When you register and provide consent for your child to be tested, they will also be added to [SCHOOL’S] screening testing pool. If you do not wish for them to be part of the weekly screening testing pool, simply log back into the online portal after your child’s test is complete and withdraw consent.

More information about diagnostic and screening testing, including site locations and schedules, is available on our website

Positivity Project: Optimism

PP

This week, we are focusing on Optimism. You expect the best from the future and work to achieve it.

“When the world says, ‘Give Up’, hope whispers, ‘Try it one more time’.”

Questions you might enjoy talking about:

  • When were you optimistic in a situation? How could that situation have turned out differently if you weren’t optimistic?
  • Do you believe that hope and optimism are “contagious”?
  • What is your dream for your future self?  What will you have to do to achieve that goal?
