1. Message from Mrs. Miller
It is hard to believe that we are preparing to close out 2021! As we reflect on this past year, we had our challenges, but we could not be prouder of our incredible students, extraordinary staff, and supportive families.
We continue to celebrate our students and staff. Please see our Bears in the Spotlight section below to highlight the strengths and excellent things our students do outside of school. We would love to share their talents on our Morning News show. Please also visit our Staff Shout-out section below to appreciate our phenomenal staff.
As winter break approaches, we wish you all a restful break and to enjoy this time with family and friends. We are looking forward to what 2022 will bring for our Olde Creek community. It is our honor and privilege to lead this exceptional school community and we know amazing things are ahead of us next year! Our Olde Creek Bears have shown us that we are stronger together and we will continue to partner together to achieve our goals. Have a wonderful winter break! We will see you in 2022!

2. Winter Break Office Hours
Winter break is December 20, 2021 – December 31, 2021. Olde Creek’s office will be closed during this time. Staff will not be available by phone or email over break. If you have an urgent matter, please email Mrs. Miller at mhmiller@fcps.edu. We look forward to seeing our students back at school on Monday, January 3, 2022.

3. Principals’ Walking Club
Please join Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Butler, Mrs. Durso, and the Wellness Committee for the next Principal’s Walking Club. Our next day of Walking Club will be the first Wednesday of the New Year (Wednesday, January 5th, 2022) and we will plan to meet in the gym. Remember to wear your comfortable workout gear for Wellness Wednesday and we hope to see you there! Stay healthy and well over break! See you in 2022!

4. Lightspeed Parent Report on Child’s Device Activity
FCPS has new tools to help parents and guardians know more about their child’s activity on any FCPS device. These tools are provided by Lightspeed, our internet content filtering service, at no cost to families. You may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites your child visited. If you want more detailed information, sign up for the Internet Use Parent portal and log-in anytime to see more detail about your child’s browsing and “pause” access to the internet during non-school hours. Find out more and sign up for these services on this website.
5. Robinson Rising 7th Grade Parent Night
Robinson Secondary will be hosting a rising 7th grade parent information night on January 11, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. Opportunities to hear more information about special education, ESOL, and immersion will begin at 5:45 p.m. The electives fair will be from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Robinson is sending information to families.

6. PTA Corner
The Olde Creek PTA partners with Flex Academies to offer additional after school clubs at Olde Creek. Winter session registration opens December 15th at 5:00 pm. See the list of classes. The winter session begins January 17th. Sign-up today! Registration closes January 9th at 8:00 pm. Please contact the PTA board with questions - board@oldecreekpta.com.

7. Bears in the Spotlight!
We are excited to introduce a new program to highlight the incredible skills and talents of our Bears! On a daily basis, we have the opportunity to see our Bears’ strengths in school but we want to showcase the skills and talents our students demonstrate outside of school as well.
Each week on the morning news, we will have Bears in the Spotlight to share these skills and talents with our school community. Our students can sing, dance, share artwork, or videos of them playing sports or clips of other performances.
