PTA volunteers

Thank you HES PTA for a delicious winter lunch and to all of the families who brought in cookies for the entire staff!

Dear Bee Families,

We are at the end of celebrating 12 Days of Cheer with our scholars and staff members and every day has been packed with fun.

As you plan and begin your winter break, PLEASE be cognizant that COVID is still playing a large part in our daily lives. We ask that you remain vigilant about strategies that are proven to minimize spread. From our experience, students are being exposed and the virus is transmitting outside of school in places where children are not wearing masks. Because our students and staff consistently wear their masks appropriately and we continue to quarantine students who are close contacts, there has been no spread here at school. The impact of students having to be out for days at a time (when infected or exposed) is still great. We ask that you continue to take precautions so that we can start 2022 TOGETHER and HEALTHY.

We hope that your break is peaceful, restful and happy. Thank you, as always for your continued partnership as we all do our very best to navigate and thrive during this school year.

As always, we are a team. Please let us know what questions or compliments you may have.

With Kindness and Appreciation,

Candace Hunstad                      Elizabeth Baxter

FCPS Student Devices over Winter Break

Dear Parents,

If you are traveling out of the country for the upcoming winter break, students should not be taking their FCPS issued devices with them. Please leave them at home.

Thank you!

Strings student and teacher

HES student, Dishant Ranjitkar and HES strings teacher, Chelsea Haislip

Music Loft HES Strings Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to 6th grader Dishant Ranjitkar who is the recipient of this year's first ever "Music Loft" Herndon ES Strings Scholarship!  Dishant has played violin at Herndon ES since 4th grade.

Chelsea Haislip, his strings teacher at HES says, "He has grown so much as a violinist!  He practices 7 days a week, is always kind, hardworking, and supportive of other string classmates.  He is a talented and amazing musician!  I am thrilled that Dishant gets the opportunity to have private violin lessons. Dishant has told me almost every class how much he loves the violin and that he will continue playing past high school!".

We want to send a huge "Thank You" to Laura Readyoff, the owner of the local music store, The Music Loft.  Not only has she created this very special scholarship, but she donated 10 instruments (violins and violas) to our HES strings program.  She has been a huge supporter of Herndon ES and the Herndon community for many years.
