Principals' Message

Happy Friday CES Community,

Today we said goodbye and good luck to two of our CES Family members! Marian Wilson has been a fixture of the CES office staff for the last 16 years. During her 20 years of service for FCPS, she has always been willing to step-in and support whenever necessary.  Erin Kauffman has been a member of the CES staff for the last 7 ½ years. She has gone above and beyond to support staff and ensure our students’ SEL needs are being met. Both Marian’s and Erin’s dedication and commitment to CES is nearly impossible to replace. They will be greatly missed, but we wish them the best in their next journey!

From our CES family to yours, have a wonderful Winter Break! We are hopeful you find time to celebrate the upcoming holidays with family and friends! We wish you all a safe and healthy holiday season. School will resume on Monday, January 3, 2022.

Have a wonderful break!

Rachel, Jen, & Josh

Proud Principals

Winter Break Homework Expectations

Winter break is coming soon and we are looking forward to enjoying time to relax and enjoy being with family and friends. To ensure students take a well-deserved break, no homework will be assigned over winter break. Teachers may assign long-range assignments in the weeks ahead of the break, allowing students to practice time management skills. But, no assignments should be due immediately following the break. We look forward to welcoming students back in the new year

COVID Vaccination Status

You may wish to voluntarily share your child’s COVID-19 vaccination information with CES. However, we do not require your child’s vaccination information and no school employee will ask for your child’s vaccination status. The only exception is student-athletes, who are required to share their vaccination status to participate in their sport or activity.

If you would like to provide us with your child’s vaccination status, please bring your child’s COVID-19 vaccination card or a photocopy of the card to Mrs. Tawfik in the front office. COVID-19 vaccination documentation contains Protected Health Information and should not be emailed.

As always, you are welcome to contact us if you have any questions.

Looking Ahead to 2022

There are several special dates in January for you to be aware of and to plan for. Monday, January 17th is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and schools will be closed.

The 2nd quarter ends on Thursday, January 20th and students will be dismissed 2 hours early at 2:00 PM.

Friday, January 21st and Monday, January 24th are Teacher Workdays and Staff Development days. There is no school for students on these days.
