Taking a Break during Winter Break
As we prepare for the upcoming winter break, we will again be asking that our staff and students step away from their computers, school work and emails so they can enjoy some downtime. Please know that there will be no work assigned during winter break and no tests, quizzes, or major due dates on Monday, January 3 or Tuesday, January 4, when we return from break.
Also, so that all Irving Staff may take a break, our building will be closed throughout winter break. We will reopen on Monday, January 3. We hope you have a safe and relaxing break.

Library News
The Irving Library was busy this week with visits from all 8th grade students as they selected an historical fiction novel to read for their next English class project. Ask your student what title they borrowed! Throughout their reading of the novel, students will be looking for evidence in the text that shows that the book is set in a different time, will be making connections between the events in the book and present-day, and will be determining what parts are historical and what parts are fiction. Great dinner conversation potential there!
The Winter Break is coming up. Make sure to encourage your student to have plenty of reading material to occupy their time over the holidays.

Student Laptop Care Over Winter Break
We will be sharing these Winter Break Laptop Care tips with students next week. We ask that parents/guardians have a plan for ensuring student devices are in a safe place during Winter Break and that they are charged and ready to use when school reopens on January 3, 2022. Thank you!

Teacher Appreciation Pies
Thank you so much for your support! We have met our donation goal! We are still in need of volunteers to help pick up and store pies. All that is required is a little time and space in your refrigerator. We also are looking for volunteers to help distribute the pies to the teachers throughout the week. You can sign up here to help.
