Sleigh Ride Conducting Auction

Calling all wannabe conductors!  The Herndon Band is auctioning off the opportunity to conduct “Sleigh Ride” at our annual free winter concert on December 9th at 7pm at Herndon HS.  Bring your checkbook and you could be the lucky winner and have a chance to shine on stage!

From the Library

As winter holidays approach, this is the perfect time of year for students to have a stack of books on hand to enjoy! Please encourage your students to stop by the library during December. We love to work with students to find out what they enjoy reading and to offer recommendations. When they log in to their individual Destiny account, they are able to search for books, put books on hold, see what they have checked out, and renew their books. The Collections feature in Destiny allows students to explore books and other resources grouped by theme. If you or your students would like additional information, please email us at hhs_library@fcps.edu.

HUMC Free Tutoring Program

TGFT will remain virtual for the start of the 2021-2022 school  year, with sessions beginning on September 8. Information regarding the program can be found on our website:  herndonumc.org/tgft

Students are encouraged to fill out the registration form on the website, as this allows us to match students with our subject-area specialists. As in the past, we offer assistance in all math subjects, chemistry, and physics.

We want to help your students be successful this year!

Families, We Need Your Consent for Select Digital Resources

At Herndon High School, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: https://herndonhs.fcps.edu/adopteddigitalresources. Additionally, you can find more information about approved digital resources in FCPS here: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/digital-resources.

Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Please reach out to our School Based Technology Specialist, Mrs Smith (liz.smith@fcps.edu), if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year. This form needs to be signed at the start of each school year.
