The Jaguar Food Pantry is Truly Thankful for this Community!!!
What an amazing November! Generosity came from many different places: Food for Neighbors, Food for Others, The Falls Church Anglican Church, Knox Presbyterian Church, local Girl Scouts, and several inviduals. AND... our volunteers responded incredibly! Thanks to the response from our community, we provided food and hygiene product support to more than 65 families and are in a good position to support several more in December. Thank you to everyone who has supported our efforts!
See the detailed update we presented at the November PTSA meeting HERE.
For December, we'll need a lot of volunteers since our activities include an evening bag and box assembly activity. At a high level, this is what we'll do (other activities may be added):
- Wednesday, Dec. 1st - Inventory and organize pantry items from 2pm-4:30pm (six volunteer slots are available)
- Monday, Dec. 13th - Box and bag assembly from 6pm-9pm (13 volunteer slots are available)
- Tuesday, Dec. 14th - Support for distribution to families from 2pm-4:30pm (10 volunteer slots are available)
Please sign up HERE for as many slots as you are available for. And if you can only make it for part of a slot, please let us know what time you are available.
We are still in good shape with cash on hand, but we will need additional cash in January, when we expect seasonal work to have ended and our number of supported families to increase. If you can, please click HERE to make an end of year donation through the PTSA.
And, January 8th is our next Food for Neighbors collection. If you are a FFN donor, THANK YOU!, and please remember to shop from our special family-focused list for the collection (available HERE), NOT the list on the bag tag. If you are not a FFN Red Bag Donor, please consider signing up for this terrific program HERE.
Thanks for reading the update, and for your continued support of the pantry. If you have questions or something to share, please contact Paula Prettyman at FCHSPantry@gmail.com or 703-867-7560.
