FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION (FLE)

Materials Preview - Monday, 11/22, 7:00-7:45pm

Each year, elementary schools in the Edison Pyramid host an optional parent information session on FCPS’s Family Life Education (FLE).  We share information about the lessons taught, provide time for families to view the materials used in lessons, and answer questions.

This year, the session will be hosted by Mount Eagle Elementary staff in a Zoom session on Monday, November 22, at 7:00-7:45pm.

Parents can access the Zoom session here.  You will need a Zoom account to access this meeting.

Parents are also able to view FLE materials in their Parent Schoology accounts.

If you need help accessing these materials, please contact me at lnpinski@fcps.edu.

FREE COVID-19 Vaccinations

Pop-up Pediatric Vaccine Clinic Opportunities

The Fairfax Health District and Fairfax County Public Schools are hosting free COVID-19 vaccine clinics at 10 schools for students 5-11 years of age.

Children do not need to be an FCPS student to attend these clinics.  Vaccines will not be available for those 12 years and older.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or another responsible adult at all community vaccination sites.

The Fairfax County Health Department’s webpage has information about the clinics and resources for finding and scheduling a vaccine appointment.

Up-to-date information about vaccination opportunities is available on our website

Find out if you can schedule your child’s COVID-19 and flu vaccines at the same time.

change

Please remember to notify the school office of any of the following changes that come up for your child.

Notification should be made by 9:00am on the day of the change.

  • Absence
  • Late arrival
  • Planned early pick-up or mid-day appointment (pick-up and return)
    • If your child needs to be picked up unexpectedly, please call the office (703-822-2200) in advance of your arrival
    • This allows the office to contact your child’s teacher to prepare your child for their departure
    • For early pick-ups after 3:00pm, please park on Kathmoor as the school buses start to arrive for dismissal at that time

Below are the 3 options by which to notify the school office (choose one option):

Please do this IN ADDITION to contacting your child's teacher.  There could be times when the teacher is absent and, by also contacting the office, the information will be properly noted.

To email your child’s teacher, go to www.franconiaes.fcps.edu, click on “FULL MENU” on the left, and then "Staff Directory."

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Inclement Weather Guidelines

2021-2022

FCPS has announced updates to its inclement weather policy for the 2021-22 school year.

  • The first five inclement weather days will be traditional inclement weather days. These five days may occur consecutively due to a single weather event or may take place as several individual events.
  • Once these five days have been taken, FCPS will use the flexibility provided by the General Assembly to have unscheduled virtual learning days, wherever possible, to maintain continuity of learning.
