Principal's Message: 11/20/2021

Good Morning Parents and Families,

It was a very fun and eventful five days as we closed out the last full week of November. I continue to be so proud as we have so many wonderful things to celebrate each day as a result of our talented students and staff.

Below you can read more about the many exciting activities that took place this week to include our 3rd speaker series with Darrell Green, our first parent coffee, a very creative spirit week where we saw huge participation, celebrating our honor roll students from the first quarter and much more. There were a lot of joy and smiles throughout the hallways this week, which I know will continue as we have several upcoming events to close out the 2021 calendar year.

A quick reminder we only have school on Monday and Tuesday of this week. There is no school November 24-26 in observance of Thanksgiving. I continue to be so grateful for your support and partnership as we ensure our students have a positive, rich and meaningful middle school experience. I wish each of you and your families a relaxing long weekend; my Principal’s Message will resume on December 4, 2021.

Have a great weekend,

Portrait of a Panther
One of the highlights of my week is showcasing our talented students. This week several of our students did a great job with overall participation, taking risks by doing something new, whether on the announcements or on the news show, as well as being overall great students. Darrell Green Feature

We wrapped up our 3rd speaker series with our final NFL Hall-of-Famer and Super Bowl Champion, Darrell Green, as part of our Speaker Series partnership with our Ignite business partner, Grace Covenant.

Mr. Green shared a powerful message around responsibility and the importance of staying true to your vision, imagination and dreams to make the most of each day. Students and staff had an opportunity to meet him and talk a little more with him after the live-streaming interview. Please click the link above for the complete video and pictures.

All A Honor Roll for Q1 Feature

We honored and celebrated our 7th and 8th grade students during our first quarter Honor Roll ceremony yesterday. A special thank you to former Stone Panthers and current Westfield High School Seniors,  Rakibul Alam and Sathvika Sangoju, for their inspiring words.

Each student shared about their own personal academic journey, what they have learned along the way, and words of encouragement as our students continue on with their school year. Students were also encouraged by Ms. Norris to take a risk and try one new thing during this second quarter. Please click the link above for more pictures and the video. Thank you to our Student Services team for coordinating this event.

Family Engagement Update

We had a great first parent coffee this last Wednesday where our parents and families were able to engage in more in-depth learning around Schoology and SIS. Thank you to Amy Copeland, Student Information Assistant, Alison Costanza, School Based Technology Specialist, Denisse Stein, Family Engagement Liaison, and Tami Brumett, Director of Student Services, for this very informative session.

Our next upcoming parent event will be a virtual town hall on November 30 at 6:00 PM. During this time, Ms. Norris, will provide an update of the school-year thus far,  review of first quarter survey results and then an opportunity for general questions. Please click the link above for more

Members of our NJHS, along with sponsors, Ms. Deal and Ms. Egbers, gave back to VFW by raking and helping with other landscaping needs. Thanks for your service!
