Note from Dr. Goodloe:

Dear Rocky Run Families and Students,

As the Thanksgiving holiday is upon us, it is important that EVERYONE takes a break and a breather to enjoy the time off and activities with loved ones. For several years FCPS and Rocky Run MS have embraced the practice that no major assignments will be due or major assessments given on the first two days back to school after a school holiday break.  We appreciate the community support and want to remind all that staff will be fully embracing the break to spend time with their loved ones as well and will not be grading, posting, or responding to email.  We are truly grateful to be a part of such a strong and supportive community.

Thank a Ram in the RRMS Community:

As Thanksgiving approaches, it is a great time to take a moment to say "thank you" to the people who have made a positive impact in our lives.  We ask you to reflect and share your gratitude with members of the RRMS staff and community by "Thanking a Ram" using this form.

Join PTA:

Did you know that our PTA now has over 180 members? Our goal is to exceed 200 for this year. Please take a moment to join the PTA and we look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!  Please join the PTA at https://rockyrunms.memberhub.com/

I welcome your feedback, questions and suggestions.  Please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Parent Teen Book Club

Parent Teen Book Club is a forum for parents and students to read together and to discuss books. When discussing books, parents and students can learn from each other’s perspectives and begin to understand and appreciate the similarities and differences among themselves. This is a great opportunity to communicate with your teenager as they move forward in shaping an identity and in making good choices for the future. Please accept this invitation to support your child as a lifelong reader! To learn more about Parent Teen Book Club, click here for answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

Our first Parent Teen Book Club of the year will be on Thursday, December 9 at 7pm. We are offering the theme, Perspectives in Verse – 5 titles written in poetry format, known as Novels in Verse. The titles are listed below. Students will receive 2 copies of each book to bring home for reading prior to the discussions on December 9.

To learn more about each book, click on the title. To sign up to read one of these books with your Rocky Run student, use the Sign Up link next to it. Spaces will be limited in each group.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Slevin – agslevin@fcps.edu. Hope to see you soon!
