News & Notes
Thanks to Our Veterans Day Visitors!
We would like to thank all of the veteran and active-duty members of the military who joined us yesterday to celebrate Veterans Day. The students and staff members thoroughly enjoyed hearing your stories and learning about all of the important work you do to help keep our country safe and strong! We hope to offer more opportunities like this in the future. Thank you for sharing your time with us and thank you for your service!
We’d also like to thank Lane music teachers Melissa Snavely and Kevin Lynch for the amazing Chorus video they put together to honor veterans through song. The video is currently being featured on the main FCPS Facebook page. Here’s a link: https://www.facebook.com/fcpsva/videos/457949365965524/.
Fall Picture Day Make-Ups and Retakes Tuesday, November 16th
If you are new to our school, your child was absent on the day pictures were taken, or you are not happy with the portraits you received, we will be offering make-ups and retakes on Tuesday, November 16th. If you’d like to have your child’s picture retaken or taken for the first time, please email your child’s teacher so he or she knows to send your child to the photographer on Tuesday.
If you ordered a package from the first photo session and you wish to have your child’s picture retaken, please be sure to send the entire package to school with your child to return to the photographer. If your child is new to Lane since the first picture day or your child was absent that day, you will receive a proof sheet with the option to order prints later in November.
Thanksgiving Holiday Break Coming Soon, Wednesday, November 24th through Friday, November 26th
It’s hard to believe it, but the holidays really are right around the corner. Thanksgiving is just two weeks from yesterday! Please remember that school will be CLOSED for an extra-long weekend to celebrate – Wednesday, November 24th through Friday, November 26th. The office and SACC will also be closed. School will reopen on Monday, November 29th at the regular time.

Birthday Celebration Reminders
We know that your child’s birthday is a very special day, and we want to celebrate with you, but too much celebrating can disrupt routines and eat up critical instructional time.
You are welcome to send in a treat or snack for your child’s class, but they must be individually wrapped and ready to serve. Please let the teacher know ahead of time so they are expected. Please do not bring in goodie bags for the teacher to distribute.
We appreciate your cooperation!
