Kilmer's Food Pantry

food pantry

A message from Principal, Amy Miller:

Dear Kilmer Families,

Every three weeks, the Kilmer Food Pantry gives out bags of food, toiletry supplies, and clothes. The entire Kilmer community is so supportive of the Food Pantry with your donations. Last Friday, Rustic Love Vienna presented the Kilmer Food Pantry with a special donation. Thank you to Rustic Love Vienna and all of our community who support the Food Pantry.

This week, our Algebra teachers collaborated with our librarians to engage the students in Equation Scrabble. The students worked in partners or small groups to solve equations. Solving the equation earned the students a letter that they could play on the class scrabble board. The students were highly engaged and having lots of fun!

Our Family and Consumer Science classes filled our hallways with the sweet smell of Monkey Bread. The students worked in teams to bake the monkey bread. When I stopped by the class, the students were counting down with excitement as they were anticipating the oven timer going off to indicate their monkey bread was fully cooked!

Sincerely,

Amy Miller, Principal

We appreciate all you do for the Kilmer community Ms. Daigle! Thank you!

Photos can be ordered with the code on the packet. Retakes will be on Monday, November 15th during PAWS for those students who were absent on the original photo day or would like a retake. Students who want a retake need to bring in the original packet.

PTA Projector Fundraiser

Last week the PTA kicked off their fundraiser for upgraded projectors. At the PTA Meeting on Monday, November 15, we will be sharing the benefits of the upgraded projectors. We were able to start the replacement process last year and here is a testimonial from one of our teachers:

“I love, love, love my new projector. The display is huge and bright.  The interactive pens and screen help me quickly scaffold or elaborate on the presented material, tailoring it for different classes, which is a big improvement over a SMART board. I successfully use this important visual tool to help my students stay organized, focused and engaged.” - Mrs. Hild, English

As a reminder, you can make your donation by going to Pay4SchoolStuff and adding the Projector Fundraiser to your cart. CLICK HERE TO DONATE. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Spring Musical

The Kilmer Drama Department is excited to announce auditions for this year’s spring musical Matilda JR!

About the Show:

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly lovable Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other's lives, as Miss Honey begins not only to recognize but also appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!

How to prepare:

Audition packets can be downloaded from Kilmer Drama’s website at www.kmsdrama.org, or hard copies can be obtained from Mrs. Kozik in Room G103.  Students should sign up for an audition by November 19th in order to receive a PAWS pass for the singing workshop that will take place that day.  Auditions close the morning of November 23rd.
