Check Out How We are Impacting Students

In the Classroom...

For the 2021-2022 school year, Educate Fairfax granted nearly $100,000 to 73 teachers around the county, to be used for innovative classroom projects that helped students return to full-time school. Here are two more stories of how we are helping!

students with boxes of items to donate to homeless

Daniels Run Elementary School

Students in all grades at Daniels Run ES are engaged in service learning projects using funding from the Educate Fairfax grant.

Recently the 5th graders had a classroom presentation from the executive director of the Lamb Center, which provides daytime shelter for the homeless. The students were moved to collect items of clothing for the  clientele, and wrote personal cards of encouragement to them.

SCMS students making a blanket for a veteran

South County Middle School

Students at South County MS are giving back too - they recently used funds from Educate Fairfax to purchase material to make blankets that they donated to veterans on Veterans Day.

We're delighted that students are taking an interest in our community and finding ways to give back!

Other Donations Make an Impact too!

Funding from Dewberry helped Luther Jackson Middle School create an Escape Room in an unused technology room in the school. The imaginative new room is the brainchild of After School Program Specialist Matt Hoffert. As a fan of escape rooms himself, he thought building one would be a fun way to get the students engaged and encourage critical thinking. Dewberry, which has supported Jackson MS for nearly 30 years, made a cash contribution for materials and other items to make the room a success!
