PTSA Meeting, Tues., 11/16 @ 7pm in the Library

Please join us on Tuesday, November 16 at 7:00pm in the library for the next PTSA meeting.  Along with the business meeting, we will have guest presenter Angela Conerly, Director of Mindworks Education join us.  She will be discussing how students should navigate the SAT and ACT now that many colleges and universities are test optional.  We hope to see you there!

Compliment a Cat

As part of our school-wide ROAR program – Respect, Ownership, Achievement, Relationships – we would like to provide opportunities for these pillars to be recognized across the entire Centreville community. If there is a staff member that you would like to recognize for one of these attributes (or any other positive contributions to CVHS), please consider filling out the form below to give them a shout-out. We will share these compliments with the staff member. We love hearing all of the good news that is happening throughout our building and community and want to recognize our hardworking Wildcat staff!

Morning Arrival

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure that students arrive at school on time.  The first class begins at 8:10, and students are expected to be in the classroom at that time.  To give themselves enough time, students should arrive at school no later than 8:00.  We are unfortunately seeing an increase in the number of students arriving late to school, especially those who drive.  We don’t want students to miss important class time in the morning, and we know punctuality is an important habit to develop.  Please encourage student drivers to give themselves extra time in the morning so they don’t feel rushed and engage in dangerous driving.  Thank you for your support!

Student Parking Lot and Dismissal

Please talk with your student driver about the importance of driving safely while exiting the student parking lot.  Dismissal is a particularly busy time with many student drivers exiting at once.  Additionally, the turn onto Union Mill Rd is challenging with oncoming traffic, especially when trying to make a left hand turn.  School staff are not legally allowed to direct traffic on Union Mill Road, and CVHS is not provided with a uniformed officer to direct traffic during arrival or dismissal.  If student drivers don’t need to rush out after school, they can take an extra 10 minutes in the school and avoid the heavy traffic.  Please remind students to avoid distractions and stay off their phone.  Remaining patient, reducing speed, and avoiding aggressive driving are also important.  We don’t want to see any of our students get into an accident.  Thank you for helping us to promote safe driving with our teen drivers!

Gift Card Donations

With Thanksgiving and the holiday season approaching it is important every student's holiday is filled with family and fun! However, some of our students and their families at Centreville High School encounter financial difficulties that may make it challenging for the holidays.

Here at Centreville we are truly grateful to have such a strong sense of community and to be able to help our students in times like these.

We are asking for your help!

With your help Centreville High School will be able to provide students with support for meals this holiday season.  The student services staff will discretely help connect the donations with those CVHS families in need.

We are asking for gift card donations to nearby grocery or department stores so that our students and their families will have the opportunity to provide food on their table and gifts that will  bring smiles to all.

Gift card donations can be turned into the main office and the below form will be filled out at that time.  We ask that these gift cards remain generic (ex. Target, Walmart, Wegmans, Giant, etc.) so that they can be used for multiple needs. Please have your donations in NO LATER THAN  Wednesday, Dec. 8th.

Any amount is greatly appreciated!  If larger donations are made, keeping the gift cards in increments less than $50 would be appreciated so that they can be more evenly distributed.

If you have any questions  please feel free to email Ms. Diaz at CBDiaz@fcps.edu or Ms. Brown at jlbrown3@fcps.edu.

Report Cards

First quarter report cards will be available in SIS on November 13 and are also being mailed the week of 11/15 .  Remember, because we use the rolling gradebook (yearlong cumulative gradebook), the quarter grade is simply a snapshot in time of student performance as of Oct 29.  For more information about accessing your SIS ParentVUE account to access grades and other information please see this website.
