Panther Press for November 7, 2021

Don’t Forget! Daylight Savings Time Ended!

Daylight Saving Time concludes at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, when the clock “falls back” one hour and in theory we get one extra hour of sleep. Did you remember to set your clocks back an hour? It will start to become darker a little earlier at the end of our day!

November 11: Veterans Day and Early Release for Students

Veteran's Day

Thursday, November 11 is Veterans Day. This is a holiday honoring men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces. In celebrating this important day, Parklawn will have a Red/White/Blue spirit day! We invite all Panthers to wear red, white, and blue to school! We will have a special presentation on the morning news that day. We will also have a school-wide letter-writing event for children to write thank you letters for veterans.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the veterans in our Parklawn Family for your service!

Children Ages 5-11 Now Eligible to VaxUP

This week we reached a milestone in our collective effort to end the COVID-19 pandemic. Children ages 5-11 are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Community clinics and local pediatricians will begin administering the COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5-11 very soon. Up-to-date information about vaccination opportunities will be available on our website

We asked local pediatricians to talk with us about some of the questions families have about the vaccine. In this short video  we learn how the vaccine works and its safety.

Positivity Project for November 7 – November 13: Bravery

P2

WHAT DOES BRAVERY MEAN?

You act with mental, moral, or physical strength even when you know things are difficult or scary.

Family Chat:

What is something that makes you feel scared or nervous?

Name a time when you, or someone you know, showed bravery. How did the person feel?

Trying something new can be scary, and that’s okay. What does your body feel like when you are not yet ready to try something new?

What does your body feel like when you are ready to try something new?

How do you, or someone you know, show everyday bravery?

How can bravery impact a group of people?

“Scared is what you’re feeling. Brave is what you’re doing.”
