Dear Whitman Community,
We began the second quarter of the school year this week. Student grades from the first quarter will be visible through ParentVue on November 12, 2021. We will be mailing the report cards home next week.
On Thursday, November 4 and Friday, November 5, our seventh grade students worked with members of the Fairfax County Stormwater Planning Division to plant over 2,000 plants in two of our courtyards. These native plants will soak up excess stormwater run-off, create a habitat for pollinators, and serve as an outdoor classroom space for Whitman to enjoy for years to come. In addition to bringing to life the concepts covered in our Life Science classrooms, students will also participate in an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IBMYP) reflection focused on service learning. If you would like more information on the R3 project, please see this video from the Stormwater Planning Division https://youtu.be/ar5Nr1PMrh8
Thank you for all you do to support our students and have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Craig Herring, Principal
