Fox Mill Focus

Greetings!

Dear Fox Mill Families and Friends,

November came in with a gust of wind and cool air!  The building tends to run hot then cold, then hot, then cold again.  Having your child wear layers is a safe way to keep him/her comfortable at school.

With that being said, our Lost and Found is getting full.  Please have your child stop by the cafeteria to claim forgotten jackets, sweaters, and water bottles.

Many thanks to our librarian, Mrs. Slusher,  and the multitude of parent volunteers for bringing our school such an amazing book fair.  The Taco Truck and Kona Ice on Monday were fun and a big success.

Have you heard about our lunch-time DJ?  The last Friday of each quarter will be jammin' in the cafeteria.  One of our parents does DJ-ing in his spare time and offered to entertain the students and celebrate all their hard work.  It's a
BIG success and we all look forward to the next event.

Enjoy your weekend.

All the best,

Mr. Moose     Ms. Greene

Meet our new music teacher, Mr. Staton!

I grew up in Danville, Virginia and received my Bachelor of Music Industry degree from James Madison University, where I served as Music Director for the JMU Contemporary Gospel Singers. Since graduation, I have served as a teacher, church music director, and continued coursework at UVA Wise. My favorite thing about teaching music is watching students use the concepts we discuss in class to think critically and creatively. In my free time, I play the piano, compose music, watch sports, and code simple projects. Most of all, I love teaching music and am thrilled to begin my second year in FCPS teaching at Fox Mill and Great Falls Elementary! FYI, my wife of one year is a teacher as well.

Digital Resources

Parents/Guardians:

If you have not already, please review the digital resources that your child might use, and complete the parent consent form.

Fairfax County Public Schools uses a variety of resources to support student learning. In cases where FCPS contracts with a vendor to host student information, FCPS requires that the vendor adhere to the security and privacy requirements specified in a confidentiality agreement included in their contracts. FCPS does not have contracts with every instructional tool vendor.  Many valuable instructional tools are governed by Terms of Service (TOS) and include both free and paid tools. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year require parental consent.

Listed on our website are the digital tools that are used at your child’s school that require parental approval, and not all tools will be used by every student. The tools have been carefully reviewed to ensure that they align with the FCPS Learning Model and FCPS conducts the same technical evaluations for all products that use student information.

For information about the specific tools that will be used by your child, please contact your child’s teachers. You will be notified if additional tools are added to this list and given the opportunity to opt-in to tools that require parental permission. Additionally, FCPS may use digital tools that do not collect, use or share any personal information.

You can find more information about FCPS’ commitment to student privacy at Digital Privacy in FCPS and a list of all approved digital tools is viewable online in the FCPS Digital Ecosystem Library which has links to the vendors’ privacy notices and other useful information.

This permission will expire at the end of this school year, and can be revoked at any time by contacting the school.  If you have questions about any of the digital resources listed below, please contact your child’s school.
