Congratulations to October's Safety Patrols of the Month!
Thank you to Dhivij, Anna, Vibhava, Mythili, Tanmayi, Neha, Sheevanthi, Avalon, Sindhura & Sahana for keeping our Mustangs safe!
This Thursday, November 11th is Veteran's Day, which is a day we honor military veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
We are fortunate to have two military veterans employed at McNair Upper ES. Please join me in thanking Ms. Betty Dailly, ESOL Teacher, and Ms. Debbie Bradner, school counselor, for their service!
Don't forget that Thursday, November 11th is also a two-hour early release day. Dismissal is at 1:30 PM. If your child is a walker or car rider, please make sure that you are at school no later than 1:30 PM to take your child home. If your child will go home a different way than they normally do on this day, please make sure to communicate this plan to, not only, your child, but your child's classroom teacher.
This week we reached a milestone in our collective effort to end the COVID-19 pandemic. Children ages 5-11 are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Community clinics and local pediatricians are now administering the COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5-11. Up-to-date information about vaccination opportunities is available on FCPS' website.
Additionally, local pediatricians joined FCPS representatives to answer some of the common questions families have about the vaccine. In this short video we learn how the vaccine works and its safety.
Optional COVID-19 screening testing for students will begin November 15, not November 8 as previously announced by FCPS. The change aligns all student screening testing start dates, making it more convenient for families with students in different grade levels. Preregistration and consent information will be shared with families soon. For all the details about COVID-19 screening testing, visit the COVID-19 Screening Testing webpage.
Screening testing is an important layered prevention strategy that helps keep our school a safe place for all students to learn. We hope you will consider enrolling your child in screening testing until your child is eligible for vaccination.
