11/7 - Time Change - Turn Back Clocks

11/11 – Career Day - 2-hour Early Release                     Veterans Day

11/24-26 – Holiday (Thanksgiving)

Hello!

As we approach two special days in November, we wanted to share plans for how we will honor Veterans’ Day and Thanksgiving as a school community. For Veterans Day, students will participate in activities in Social Studies classes and in Teacher Advisory to better understand the importance of the day. In addition, we are excited to host nearly 100 community members for Career Day on Veterans Day! Students were able to select 3 sessions to attend. We have also asked them to “Dress for Success” that day to get a feel for being a professional. We are glad to be able to honor the service of Veterans and the service of volunteers next Thursday.

As a school community we always like to take time to thank one another since we focus daily on creating a healthy and positive school community. It has been a tradition to create “Thankful Turkeys” for staff each year whose feathers are made of colorful comments of thanks from one staff member to another. We encourage students and families to reach out and thank staff members who have made the first quarter a positive and successful experience. You can choose to write an email, send a thank you card, or find some other way to express your gratitude. We also provide holiday assistance to KJMS families this time of year. If you are in a position to donate a gift card of $10-$20 from a local store like Wal-Mart, Target, or a grocery store close to the school, we will make sure it finds its way to a family in need.

Take care and have a great week!

Kathryn Teague

Director of Student Services

On behalf of Dr. Silipigni, Principal
