WAKEFIELD FOREST ES WEEKLY MESSAGE

veteransday

Dear Wakefield Forest Families,

This week we will honor our veterans on Thursday, November 11. Teachers will be sharing about Veterans Day in class, and we will have a slideshow of some of our very own veterans on the morning news show. In the Prindle household we certainly take time to recognize the contributions of our family members who serve and have served, as well as the many others that serve our country. Our entire school community is grateful to our service members and their families for the sacrifices they make to support our country near and far.

As we near Thanksgiving, we have much to be grateful for. We will be collecting gift cards to provide to our Wakefield Forest families in need this season. If you are able to donate, we will collect these in the school office and distribute them the week of November 22 through the school counselors and Parent Liaison. Gift cards to grocery stores, Target, Walmart, etc. are preferred to support critical needs.

Thank you.

Sharyn Prindle

Principal

COVID-19 Vaccine for children ages 5-11

This week we reached a milestone in our collective effort to end the COVID-19 pandemic. Children ages 5-11 are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Local pediatricians joined us to answer some of the common questions families have about the vaccine. Community clinics and local pediatricians will begin administering the COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5-11 very soon. Up-to-date information about vaccination opportunities will be available on our website

We asked local pediatricians to talk with us about some of the questions families have about the vaccine. In this short video  we learn how the vaccine works and its safety.

School Bond Referendum

Thank You Fairfax County Voters for Supporting the 2021 School Bond Referendum!

Thank you to the voters of Fairfax County who approved the 2021 Bond Referendum for school renovations and improvements. More than 69.6% of those voting in the election on November 2 supported the $360 million bond referendum. We are grateful for the support shown for Fairfax County Public Schools and the 179,000 students who grow and thrive in our schools.

These funds will enable FCPS to proceed with construction, renovations, enhancements, and planning for improvements to 14 schools, plus land acquisition for a future western county high school. Projects funded by the 2021 bond referendum will provide upgraded, current facilities for our students, staff members, and the tens of thousands of Fairfax County residents who use the schools for recreation, meetings, and community events.

FCPS plans to fund the following school projects with bond proceeds.
