Haycock Hello 11.5.21

Haycock

Principal's Message

Dear Haycock Families,

We've had a busy week and are excited about the beginning of second quarter.  Teachers spent Monday and Tuesday of this week grading, completing report cards, planning instruction, and conferencing with parents. Report cards will come home on Thursday, November 11, but can be viewed in SIS Parent Vue beginning on Saturday, November 6. (See below for directions regarding Parent Vue)

As we begin second quarter, our second grade team and students are planning and practicing for our annual Veteran's Day celebration. Although we cannot gather together as a school community in person this year for this traditional Haycock celebration, we are excited that we can have our students commemorate our veterans and share this with all of you virtually. We will share the link to view this event allowing an even greater number of people to be part of this great celebration that our second grade students put on.  This will not be livestreamed but a recording will be shared after the celebration.

We ask for your assistance and cooperation in terms of arrival procedures.  Many parents are parking in the side lot by the cafeteria and walking their students around to the front door in the mornings and waiting there with them until the doors open at 9:05.

We ask that if you are driving your child to school that you come through the Kiss and Ride line which moves very quickly.  We are extremely short on parking spaces for our staff, and when parents park in the side parking lot, teachers have no place to park when they arrive.  Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation at arrival time.

With appreciation for your partnership,

Dr. Liz Beaty                  Ms. Heather Boyd                 Ms. Dana Chen

Principal                         Assistant Principal                 Assistant Principal

Parent Vue Access - Upcoming Progress Reports

The SIS (Student Information System) ParentVUE Account is an online tool parents can use to access information about their child’s attendance, progress cards, discipline incidents, health information, and more. In ParentVUE, you can also view student progress reports/report cards and SOL scores. Your secure SIS ParentVUE Account offers you the ability to use one username/password to login to both the SIS ParentVUE Account and Schoology.

Using the SIS ParentVUE account, parents will also be able to view school information, including teacher e-mail addresses, the FCPS calendar, and emergency contact information. Visit the FCPS website and use the search function and keywords “SIS Parent Overview” for more information.

Many of our Haycock families have already activated their SIS ParentVUE account with the activation key. If you are unable to login to your account, you may need to reset your password on the SIS Parent Account login page (https://sisparent.fcps.edu):

  • Select the “Forgot Password” button.
  • Your username is the primary email address you have on file with us in our Student Information System.
  • More information is available here.

Newly enrolled families should have received an activation key for your account.  If you have not yet activated your account, please reach out to Christine LaValle at clavalle@fcps.edu. Please take action now to ensure your account is active, so that you won’t miss a beat! Here is the Parent Request link.

COVID-19 Screening Testing for Students

In support of our commitment to safety, FCPS will begin optional COVID-19 screening testing in schools. FCPS will test at least 10% of students who are not fully vaccinated and have parent/guardian consent, which follows the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Parent/guardian consent is required for students to be part of the testing pool. Parents may provide their child(ren)’s vaccination status and indicate consent via a secure online portal. More information, including links to the online portal, will be available soon.
